No, my comment was independent.
He's lost 10+ games in 11 of his last 14 seasons.

Grant has lost 10+ 5 years in a row. (5 of 7 overall)
Tubby has 1 National Title. Grant has 1 NCAA tourney victory.
I don't even know how these two are being compared in a discussion on here.
ahh, well you shouldn't have quoted my comment then, or at least clarified your response as refering to your original comment.

Statistics are nice and can make any argument a valid one, but I believe that the ceiling and potential with CAG is a lot higher than it would be with Tubby. I agree that Tubby is a very good coach, but IMO he is not a good fit at UA.
All coaches who have never made it past the 2nd round have a higher ceiling than tubby. Problem is no one can point to anything ever with Grant to actual show that he will achieve that high ceiling. Tubby has hit the ceiling, and well you know what he is, that being a phenomenal coach who wins. It doesn't take 5 years to get to the NCAA's. Just look at Tubby at Tulsa, or Georgia, or Minnesota. If Grant had taken us to an NCAA tournament in his first year, half the grant supporters on here would have named their next kid after him.
No one is trying to get Tubby hired here, but a ton of super smart basketball people are shocked today. This wasn't the case of Howland creating such a negative and criminal atmosphere at UCLA. This was merely a new AD trying to show off, and probably setting Minnesota back another 10 years.
Tubby is way overrated. He took a great Ky program to mediocrity in 3 years. Unfortunately, he reminds me of CAG. His teams seem to always struggle
on offense and game adjustments and decisions are poor.
Grant's recruiting ability > Tubby's
But I do agree, Grant and Tubby both struggle to coach offense.
Luckily for Grant he's not in over his head like Tubby was at UK.
I get that Tubby is probably a good person. But his last 8 seasons have been pure mediocrity. His best season was gifted to him by Pitino.
Hahaha that's the most hilarious post on the board. Wow.... I mean.... Wow.
And what has Grant accomplished for us yet to prove he is not in over his head here at Bama?
BTW, Tubby may not be a great offensive coach, but here's a fun fact. Tubby's 6 year scoring average while at Minnesota is 68.65 ppg. Grant's best year for our offensive ppg at Bama was year 1 at 68.5 ppg. So while Tubby may struggle somewhat to coach offense, he is way better at it than Grant.
Ok let's say your right and his best seasons was gifted by Pitino. That would still mean he has 5 sweet 16's, with 3 different teams, and 3 Elite Eights. Do people forget that in 2005 he was a double OT game away from the Final Four. Also he never once had UK out of the NCAA tourney and he never once lost in a 1st round game with them. Tubby over his head at UK..... Hilarious, who comes up with your material. I really would like to take you seriously but I can't help at laughing at what you call mediocrity while saying that Grant isn't in over his head but Tubby was. I mean seriously you're like the Daniel Tosh of message board posters. Please keep posting its like pure comedy! You should send some of your spot on analysis to basketball experts around the country, they need to laugh to you know.
