Smith gets a leadoff walk, his third of the game, and for the third straight time Booth hits into a 6-4-3 double play.
5-1 through seven innings.
Christopher Walsh covers Alabama football for BamaOnline, 247Sports, and is the author of 18 books.
Vaughn leads off with a single to left, tries to stretch into a double only to be gunned down by Overstreet.
Bad decision when it's 5-1 and the guy has already thrown someone out at home.

Troy goes down 1-2-3 in the eighth and it was the top of the order.
Bottom eighth coming up, Alabama up 5-1
William Teal in to pitch for Troy in the eighth ...
Roberts gets a two-out single and Teal is pulled. Left-hander Nate Hill in.
Salem walks for two on and two outs for Overstreet.
He also walks to load the bases for Moore ...
Moore hits one into the left-center gap for a double, clears the bases.
(Honestly, I thought that one was gone, but it landed just shy of the wall on the track below the scoreboard).
Smith knocks in Moore with a double to right-center. 9-1
Thank goodness the bats are going tonight.. We need to carry that momentum into the weekend and see what we can do.. Roll Tide
Booth gets under one and puts it into the tree beyond the left-field wall. 11-1
Troy finally gets out of the inning but it's six runs as the Tide batted around. 11-1, heading to the ninth.
Castillo in for Alabama.
Colburn in left for Miller too.
Chris-any idea of the velocity of current pitcher Bama is facing?
Long fly to right for Santos. One out.
He was a lefty with kind of a jerky delivery. He had some zip on the ball, but I'd be guessing.
McDorman fans, two outs.
Howard solo shot to left, barely clears the fence. 11-2.
Gotcha. I asked as a few guys who were hitting I have seen have a hard time catching up to above average fastballs.
Ground out, ball game. Tide wins 11-2.
But but but Bobby Pierce would lead Alabama to greatness!
Still can't believe some wanted him hired when Wells first retired. Pierce is suited perfectly for a Troy. Runs the Sun Belt every few years and get his head kicked in by Alabama 80% of the time.
Well called, bud....well called.
