Should at least equal having a team in the top 40 in year 4. Grant is not meeting the lesser of expectations. He is making a salary of a proven coach. Of course he was of high demand when hired getting him that salary.
Not making the tournament this year should raise what he should have to produce next year to keep that hefty salary. Being a bubble team next year and squeaking in the NCAA IMO shouldn't be enough.
His teams consistently blow leads and go on long scoring droughts EVERY game. This has been a four year pattern. Probably because none of his players really seem to be developed offensively.
Hopefully he will figure it out because I think he has potential. How long do you hold out hope that the potential is real?
How long has he been here again? Remind me, please.

Boy Im really glad you are not the boss. You have a very young team they could really be playing better then what I expected them to because of them being so young. We are second in the SEC behind fl and you talking crazy. I really wonder how many of you people on this site would be saying this if this was a white coach instead of CAG. I am really starting to no like bama fans at all and the thing is Im sure your not putting money into anything but you siting back complaining like you paying a bill.
CJ, im glad you like being 2nd in a league like this. I mean it's getting us so much. Like an NIT berth. You act as if we beat some amazing teams to get here. We had the easiest conference schedule out of anyone. We lose to crappy teams at home and the road. Ohh by the way Missouri says Hi because they are 4th in the league and getting a NCAA Bid. Acting like being 2nd in this league this year is like some amazing accomplishment is crazy. Also, yes I demand more, because we are paying more. Forbes had a nice listing out last year of most overpaid coaches on it, guess who made the list?
We have a young team?
Sounds like Auburn football excuse under Chizik in year 4, huh?
I will refrain from calling you an idiot but I can't believe you posted this. First off, if you don't like Bama fans then don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya. You may be much happier in life if you didn't pay $10 per month for others opinions if they offend you to the point where you respond with irrational statement.. Second, I have not donated one dime to the athletic department, but the fact that am a graduate of UA allows me to have an opinion. Even the people who don't donate, or never attended the university have a right to an opinion and can complain about whatever the hell they want to. The fact that you bring race into this is a sign of insecurity and sense of entitlement, and I have no respect for anyone who throws the race card. I don't care if he black, white pink, or purple... If you don't perform you should feel pressure and ultimately be terminated if you can't do a successful job.
Tell me how Alabama basketball sold out all those game during the middle of coach Gottfried's tenure. It's because the team was successful and could win any time they took the floor. The poor attendance is a result of a poor product. I agree that it hurts recruiting. but this is all the evidence I need to have an opinion that we need to go in a different direction. He will not get fired this year, but I really don't see where next season will be any better. We have no big men and he is a poor game day coach. I see the writing on the wall so the sooner he is gone the better. I have held this opinion since the tournament game last season.
Several may disagree, and I encourage anyone who has convincing points that he should stay to convince me. Save your breath if you want to label me a racist or think It's silly to have an opinion because I'm not an athletic booster.

The price of victory is high, but so are the rewards.
We sold out games during Gottfried's golden years because his SEC opponents were better and his teams had exciting talent. No one is going to pay money to see Alabama play the likes of UT, auburn, Miss St., uga etc. Also, Gottfried's teams had elite talent. Players like Rod Grizzard, Gerald Wallace, Kennedy Winston, Mo Williams, Ronald Steele and Alonzo Gee made you want to pay money to watch basketball. We don't have any players like that on this team. They may develop into those type of guys, Pollard has the potential, but they are not there yet. Kennedy Winston was one of the best players I have ever seen especially when he saw Miss St. He hated those guys and he used to punish them. But anyway, we have generated that type of excitement in a long time.
Next year will be better because Alabama will have depth inside. Shannon Hale is a pretty good shooter. Also we will have a rotation that will not go from bad to worse. With quality depth under the bucket, we beat LSU yesterday. Without it, we can't pull down a rebound and we end up in triple overtime against a mediocre LSU team.
I said it in another thread. There will no excuses next year for this team not to be ranked by the 10th game, in contention to win the SEC, ranked all season, and comfortably in the NCAA tournament field. Anything less should mean that Grant is on the hot seat.
