We struggled in the first half and limped in with an embarassing 6-0 halftime lead in the Superdome. Tulane was absolutely terrible. At the half, the coaches were kicked out and Derrick Oden, John Copeland, Eric Curry, Antonio London, Tobie Shiels, Prince Wimbley, George Teague, and Steve Buskey got into some asses. The final score was 37-0. Next week we beat Tennessee and we never trailed again that season.
I was at the game and was friends with all those guys and some not mentioned. This is a fact. From that point on I've always believed "team only" meetings are a great thing. Take it for what it's worth.
My best friend and I called a players only meeting during our senior season actually during practice... We asked the Head coach to give us 15 minutes after warming up and he and I spelled It out for some of the younger players and for some of the seniors that were going through the motions.. Then we rallied and had our best next few weeks of practices and game until we met Hazlewood in the Quarterfinals in 1990.. Kind Of hard to stop them during those years... 6 straight State Championships I believe...

Confirmed. It wasn't personal (meaning nobody was singled out) and it was a pretty short "meeting" but it was intense and effective.
