Went and saw him play in the Bhm Tipoff game tonight at Birmingham Southern. Kid is a great pure point guard. IMO our staff needs to make him a top priority for next year. Coach Brannen was there watching tonight so hopefully we can pull him.
He has the skills, but he needs to find a weight room... I was at that game also..
Yea he looks like he may weigh 150 soaking weight, but man he is a good point guard. Pretty good shooter too, he didn't shoot it a lot but had a good looking shot. Who was #1 for Wennonah that Wore the goggles? Was he just on tonight or is he that good from 3?
Isaiah Maston... good kid, signed with South Alabama.. He can shoot it! He is their riffleman.. He was in foul trouble tonight.. Mastonis a kid that i root for.
Coleman is a really good shooter beyond the trey and off the dribble... He was not super aggressive tonight, but no one can stay in fron of him. MB plays in a way that they try to keep you out of your offense, trapping, doubling at half-court, etc.. So you really could not get a feel for how Coleman can break down a set defense.. But he can score in a flurry,, hence 56 against Columbia, Ga... He will step up his game against team he see can beat them... I am looking forward to the Wenonah v. Bryant game in the tourney.
And I don't see "Bear" playing basketball in the SEC.. The Hoover game should be really good on Friday.. the 1st time they played, Hoover could not make a shot in the second half against Wenonah in the 2nd half, after leading by 15.

Justin should be a must get for Bama next season. I don't know how Grant can afford to miss out on him. Grant needs to look at Isaiah too. He hit 4 Trey's in the 4th to run away with the game. Wenonah will be on the road at Minor on Tuesday night. I will have front row seats to that one too.
Minor = tall team,,, not a lot of skill. Not many teams could start 6'5, 6'8 and 6'9. but they are a 500 team
Coleman is a great player, but I can't see him matching up with SEC guards defensively..the kid is so tiny...but lord he's good..

That was what was so impressive to me about Justin. Everyone is there to see him and for the most part he didn't try and force things. He found the open guy when he was doubled and didn't try and dribble through traps. Very under control for the style of game that was played last night. And my gosh for the amount of talent on that team, they are all so unselfish. They seem to all know their roles. Very fun team to watch.
First time I've seen Wenonah play.. and Coleman's skill-set and decisionmaking are unbelievable. He's a complete point guard. His ball-handling and speed are elite, he's unselfish (almost too unselfish) and will bury open jumpers. He needs to add weight, but that's usually never ends up being a problem with high level athletes.
And why is number #1 for Wenonah not getting any significant D1 looks? Decent athlete, 6'3, and one of the best shots I've seen at the high school level.
I am sure we are putting the full court press on Coleman. I am also tired of worrying whether or not one of our players can guard someone. Forget that crap. We need guys that can put it in the basket. Coleman is quick, he can stay in front of guys. It's not like many teams are sending their PG to the block to post up and if they do, we can double down. I sure am glad we had Antoine Pettway. He didn't look like he could guard anyone either yet he was scrappy and had the want to. If a guy wants to play defense, he can do a decent job most of the time.
I am also intrigued with Riley Norris. I haven't seen him play, only highlights. He doesn't look like the most athletic guy in the world but he can put the ball in the basket. Until we become a team that can score, it doesn't matter what kind of defense we play.
College basketball is terrible to watch right now. Too physical and too many advantages being given to defense. I love it that Jay Bilas speaks out about it. Hopefully, other talking heads will realize that the sport is losing fans and they will figure out a way to increase scoring. People want to see points on the board.
