Ok, now that every team in the SEC has a head coach, let's revisit next season's schedule (minus one team).
Aug. 31 Virginia Tech
Sept. 14 at Texas A&M
Sept. 28 *Ole Miss
Oct. 5 Georgia State
Oct. 12 at Kentucky New coach
Oct. 19 Arkansas New coach
Oct. 26 Tennessee New coach
Nov. 9 LSU
Nov. 16 at Mississippi State
Nov. 23 Chattanooga
Nov. 30 at Auburn New coach
Those frist three games are looking a lot tougher since the partial schedule was announced.
I'm guessing Arkansas is going to have very different schemes and that will take a while.
Tennessee wil Charlie Strong makes that a little more interesting.
Christopher Walsh covers Alabama football for BamaOnline, 247Sports, and is the author of 18 books.
Win @ Texas A&M and vs LSU and have a great chance to run the table.
I read something tonight that said Strong may be staying in Louisville and that Fedora was interviewing with UT. Don't know if it is true.
I still think we win against Ole Miss. It'll be a bit closer this year.
On A&M, seems like some of their fans were saying they were losing quite a few to the draft especially on the lines.
With a&m in the west and doinf well, there's no such thing as an easy schedule anymore. We should just be thankful that we miss UF, UGA, and USC again.
The spacing is fantastic. The longest SEC stretch is 3 weeks in a row and it seems like we have had a 5 game stretch for forever. Interestingly enough LSU has a five stretch next year and it seems like they never do...
We should be in a very good position though. A&M returns a probable Heisman trophy winner at QB but so much talent and experience is gone. They will take a step back. I like Ole Miss though. I don't know what Bray is thinking but if he stays, Strong will inherit a pretty experienced team...going to have to play some D though.
All in all, looks favorable to us. LSU plays UF and at UGA and us in Bryant Denny. I don't see A&M being the competition they were this year and everybody else in the West is still behind I think.
It's as weak of a schedule as you can have. I expect a lot of negative talk from others teams fans. Definitely top heavy, which i ithink is a benefit for us.
VT being so bad this year makes it seem worse, but I can't imagine they won't improve. Beamer has always been so consistent, so I think they'll be back at ten wins.
I'm glad we get a&m early. Losing three first round picks, they won't be as tough. They could exceed expectations again, but it'll take a few weeks to get things to click.
The negative talk on the schedule as already started. Mainly by LSU fans. Today on one of their boards, they were figured up the percentages of missed penalties that the homer Birmingham offices missed and yesterday, they had a long thread about wanting to move to the Big12 because of the unfair scheduling and the SEC's refusal to call a penalty on Bama.
It's probably the second most favorable schedule in the SEC West behind A&M. That said such is just luck and LSU can kiss my ass. The SEC scheduling has favored them for years.
No doubt, man. They are slowly moving up my ladder of hate. I read numerous posts after the Dial hit of LSU fans wanting AJ to get injured. It's just a game to me and I dont wish anything like that on any of those kids.
How quickly everyone forgets about the 2010 season and we played 5+ SEC teams with bye weeks. Also we led the conference by far with opponents bye weeks over a 3 year span. They can all kiss my a$$ with the scheduling deal. Not our fault Va Tech, UT, Ark, and AU are down. This crap goes in cycles and we are in top right now.
is this correct -- 3 bye weeks? why couldn't we add a 12th game? j/w, seems off from other years.
We are adding a 12th game. It is apparently going to be Colorado State (McElwain's team) either the week before or after Texas A&M. They are still trying to finalize it. The Denver Post I believe had something on this about a month or so ago. We will have 12 games.

Very happy we are getting TX A&M early.
Wait..... Correct me if I'm wrong, but does that mean we have two bye weeks? There are 3 open dates on that schedule. One of those is a cupcake, yet to be scheduled. So we have two byes?
Yep us and every other team in the SEC
I agree, that's about as favorable a schedule as we will ever see in the SEC west under the current structure. Still not easy by any means, this conference is brutal.
I think 12-0 SEC teams will be pretty rare going forward, you may see one every 5 or 6 years.
Va. Tech will be improved, but not enough - WIN
Texas A&M will miss their center & two first round draft pick tackles. Tough game, but - WIN
Ole Miss returns a lot and should be a lot better, I'll go with a - WIN
Ga. State - WIN
at Kentucky - WIN
Arkansas, even in October, will likely still be growing into CBB's system - WIN
Tennessee, same as above - WIN
LSU should be better on offense, but they won't have the speed on the edge they did this year. Another close one, but - WIN
at Miss. State, pretty sure they lose every WR and a good bit on defense - WIN
Chattanooga - WIN
at Auburn, the cardiac tigers return. I think they limp into this game at 8-3 scoring just enough to beat everyone except at Texas A&M, at LSU & Georgia - WIN
Hard to find a game we won't be favored in (assuming AJ comes back)
If Vince Lombardi was brought back from the dead and given the UT job, the Viles would still stink next year. They are going to lose their QB (Not a big loss here) their 4 top receivers including their all SEC TE and stud WR's, top LB and possibly several OL's if they go early.
They are going to be as bad as this year even if they are competently coached.
You guys have to believe that Saban took the loss to aTm personally. This guy hates losing at all, and he will have that date circled on the calendar. I think that they spend more time planning for this game over the summer than the opener against VaTech.
Wow that schedule looks easy. TAMU will be losing their two 1st round OT's, their 1st round DE, and Swopes. We'll also be looking for revenge. It'll be tough but I like our chances.
Other than that I honestly don't see another tough game outside of LSU at home. I don't buy Ole Miss being able to beat us in Tuscaloosa just yet. Same for Tennessee, they were wretched this year and we get them in TTown.
VT in ATL would normally scare me but they were pretty bad this year and lose Logan Thomas.
Really, really favorable schedule. Getting back to ATL and possibly Pasadena looks very possible.
Is this a new thing?
