were underthrown 2 times in the 4th, and cost us chance to go ahead on 2 occasions. Both times our recievers have to wait and in both cases we did not score. Who knows how it ma y have ended, but would have liked to take lead and c how it ended.
In AJ's defense, when you have receivers running open, I think you would rather him underthrow it than an overthrow and risk getting nothing out of it. I will be replaying 1st and goal from the 6 way more than the underthrows. Reminiscent of 1st and 2 and not getting against Tennessee during the Shula years.
The misses on the long balls don't bother me as much as the intermediate passes he's been missing on the last couple of weeks.
I guess some fans will not be happy until AJ transforms into Dan Marino circa 1984. AJ threw for over 300 yards and completed somewhere near 60% of his passes. He did not throw a "perfect" long ball every time aganst Texas A&M, but he did hit Cooper in stride for a long TD in the 4th, and as elsewhere noted, it is FAR better to slightly underthrow the long ball to an open receiver than it is to overthrow the ball in that situation. He put the team at the 6 yards line, with 4 minutes to go, in a position to win the game.
For God's sakes, our QB is in the Heisman discussion and is statistically better than about 115 of 120 QBs in the nation. Other than Manziel, what QB is having a better year than AJ? Even the Aggie Wonderboy threw 3 picks against LSU to go along with a fumble or two. McCarron is easily the best QB Saban, at any college, has ever produced and he is arguably the best we've had at Alabama since the 1960s.
There is plenty to criticize in this game, but AJ should be at the bottom of the list, if at all.
Worst thing you can do is overthrow a guy 5 steps behind the defense. Toss it a little short and you hit him a lot more. I think they do that on purpose. I heard GMAC say that once when he threw a flee-flicker play to Julio.

Yeah, I can't complain really about great plays like those but I was nervous once I realized Bell wasn't getting in the endzone.
This is no knock on AJ, he throws off his back foot a lot. Without stepping in to his throws accuracy will always be an issue.
This. He has done it all of his career . Not sure it will ever be fixed.. Bad habit.
He isn't in the Heisman race anymore. Maybe not being in it will allow this offense to run the ball more, because I think him being in the race is what caused us to put the ball in his hands on the 1st and goal at the end of the game, JMO. RTR.
