not really but.....I'm Rewatching the Ole Miss game...I suspect when a QB is going for a big record they are just naturally uptight and too careful...It looks like that is definately the case in this game ...he's got the record now..... I hope he lets it all hang out against Mizz. and not worry about an interception.
40 down votes in 3 2 1....
we never need an INT but I see your point that AJ could use a little more gunslinger in him. However, I imagine he is going exactly what Saban wants him to do so I can't fault him there.
I disagree with your method but I understand ur point. I'll +1 you since youre about to get creamed.
I agree to an extent.
In our offense we look to minimize turnovers to a crazy extent. (We hardly ever fumble, or throw many pics) But we did exactly what we planned to do against Ole Miss. I can't stand it when people think we didn't throw it deep is a bad thing. We knew we had to keep their offense off the field, and yet we attacked their D a little different than we would a D like LSU. We ran with 8-9 in the box because 2-3 yards a carry would keep them off the field and tire them down on D. We keep grinding it out, and took shots very seldom (but when we did it was a good result, see Amari Cooper). We threw a lot of safe passes to play makers to keep them spread out. Spreading out a team at the right time to continue our drives, and keep their offense off the field was the game-plan i saw on Saturday.
AJ plays good when he is confident in his ability, and i do think the record was in his mind. But the safe passes was the game-plan, and a turnover could have turned the game into a fast paced game that we didn't want to be in.
Anyone can down vote if they want...I certainly mean nothing against AJ...I think he will leave Bama as one of the all time greats...I am one of his hometown fans...have followed him since he was a kid....just commenting on the psycological aspects of getting close to something and getting anxious.
A good QB needs to have a short memory and not only for interceptions thrown but for the praise and press clippings as well
"Character" is doing the right thing when nobody is looking.
We, and thereby AJ, take what the defense gives while controlling the clock. Short passes move us down field while eating up the clock when compared to hitting the long ball. AJ can certainly hit the bomb as he has done time and again over his 17 game stretch. I don't think he needs to do anything differently. I know it's not as exciting as a 70-63 game but possessing 2 of the last 3 and gunning for 3 of the last 4 NC means a lot more.
I agree regarding a portion of that game. However, coopers over the defender touchdown came on a very aggressive pass.
A player on a streak has to respect the streak. You know why? Because they don't - -they don't happen very often. If you believe you're playing well because you're getting laid, or because you're not getting laid, or because you wear women's underwear, then you *are*! And you should know that!
"That's the way it goes. But don't forget, it goes the other way too."
It sounds really stupid at first, but I thought the same Saturday.

Actually, a very good post. Kid starts worrying too much about the stats and gets TOO cautious. I like cautious but you have to be willing to fail to succeed. If he throws a pic he can relax and get back to just throwing passes.
Ronald Reagan: Man is not free unless government is limited.
This made me laugh.
He was simply holding the ball too long vs ole miss.....ala GMAC....but i love AJ...his experience is vital to our success
Has 40 down votes ever turned into 40 up votes before..we should check the BOL archives
