BusinessofCollegeSports.com listed in order the athletic departments earning the highest net income (profit) in 2010-11. It didn't surprise me that Alabama was No. 1, but I was very surprised that no other SEC schools was in the top 10.
Christopher Walsh covers Alabama football for BamaOnline, 247Sports, and is the author of 18 books.
Very surprised Texas is so far behind us.
University of Alabama: The high mark of college football since 1892
Can you remember the idiot national reporters criticizing bama paying Saban $4 mil a year when he was hired. Pretty good investment I would say!
Miss State earned twice as much as Auburn. Vols made less than minimum wadge.
I would love to compare the numbers before Saban.
Did we make enough to afford a new baseball stadium.,.,
The barn outspends us,.,.
its time for baseball to get a new facility. on the field football is on top, basketball is headin in the right direction and now its time for baseball to join. we need the facilities to put the best product on the field. the joe has sentimental value, but its time for an upgrade.

This. They would see 400 percent growth in net profits when they get a few coaches off the payroll.
Gives new meaning to the phrase, "poor aubren".
"You've got some nerve coming here." T. Yorke
Bama 31 million........tenn 14K............. LULZ
This makes me shake my head when I see posts on here saying other universities could pay more to have our basketball coach. Bama can match anyone.
You mean the dumb lecture that Illinois is a way better job than Alabama? (G)

On Alabama: CeCe Jefferson - "It was a bunch of beautiful women..." Reggie Ragland - "oh the females of course..."
Can you or anyone with the inside knowledge explain specifically what could be "gold-plate" improved with the "Joe"? I'm not a baseball afficianado, but the few times I've been, I've felt the stadium to be comfortable, clean, and relatively nice....

Good for us!
Maybe we can invest some of that in some much needed baseball facilities. I wouldn't mind seeing that eyesore natatorium razed and a new one build somewhere else.
Not bad in endowment either
New Endowment #'s (SEC Rank)
Numbers as reported on March 19, 2012 by:
National Association of College and University Business Officers and Commonfund Institute
-The University of Alabama is nearly back up to the $1 billion mark after dipping in 2008 (like all universities' endowments did) during the recession.
-Most of these schools' numbers are system-wide numbers.
I want a baseball field down on the river. Right field for the students and homers to left go swimming. Roll Tide!
Agreed. It's funny how silent (or even positive) those critics are now. There is only the occasional pot shot about oversigning or being short.
That's because Miss State chose not to pay Cam and the Barn is still paying.
...and,please note, all detractors, that the profit number is AFTER Saban's salary.

saban isn't paid by the university, or so I'm told.
