Is it just a speed issue from sideline to sideline, or is it the mental grasp of the changes required against the fast-paced offenses?
This. LT looked like a pretty good coach in 08 when we had Ro and Hightower at LB.
We just don't have that Ro/DH/Upshaw guy who is a crazy physical freak and can dominate right now. We have some freak athletes but nobody who is also peaking mentally to put it all together. Is that because of coaching? Hard to say.
LT's here to recruit.
I would love to have Sal back, but not as a DC
You're right and I'm surprised no one else has mentioned that in this thread while criticizing our mlb's. Kirby coaches inside backers and LT coaches outside backers. Our struggles are not because of coaching. Hell I still don't know where are "struggles" are. We are young and inexperienced, and A&M showed that last week. Nico and Trey are thick-legged run stuffers, not made to spread out and cover sideline to sideline. We needed 2-3 more Mosely's last week. That offense and their fast pace simply showed that our guys aren't experienced enough to think on their feet and react to what they see. Give them another year or so under their belt and they'd shut that stuff down, even if they may not be as quick and agile as our lb's in the past. Coaching is not the issue, it's young talent.
