Mitchell signed in the early signing period in the fall, before Grant showed up in the Spring. He could've asked out of his scholarship with the coaching change but he didn't. But to credit Grant for Mitchell is laughable, he signed with Gottfried twice.
Tony signed in the fall before grant being hired in the spring after Gotfried was fired. Do some research
I did, take your own advice. Wikipedia
What's laughable is the fact that you acknowleged he could have asked out of his scholly and went some where else. When a coach leaves, every player is recruited by the new coach. Grant had to sell him on playing under his staff. T.M had that option. Basketball players ask out of their schollies all the time when coaching changes happen. T.M didn't play 1 game under M.G.
The University has to grant him a release, who knows if they would or he has to sit out. The fact remains that Mitchell was a Gottfried recruit and he signed twice while CMG was the coach. Grant never recruited Mitchell and his first signee was Eblen.
I did. Last spring when a lot of us had a recruiting discussion. I thought for sure tony was signed by Grant. Looked into and found i was wrong. Btw there is a good reason why when I was finishing my MBA last year we were not allowed to use wikipedia as a source.
This thread is hilarious. I've been a huge Grant fan and want him to succeed, but the facts are he's finished second on numerous recruits since being hired and his recruiting for the post positions has been pathetic. We started the year with 10 scholarships players, only 3 post players in year 4 of his tenure. Two of the signees were projects just learning the game. Yeah, that screams dominant recruiting when you can't even fill your roster and have zero post players and no depth.

Only In Death of the Fear of God Truly Realized.
You got me there man. I can't use it as a source on my papers either. Good one
No problem. Have a great Christmas dude
The fact that Grant brought Robert Horry and Latrell Sprewell to Bama gives him another few years in my book. :)
Well then I disagree with you. Gottfried recruited better than Grant hands down with the same restrictions you gave. He is not a good recruiter. The people we got were gonna come to Bama anyway, other than TR. There isn't a 4 or 5 on the roster that could start for most non bcs schools
hope you guys do not buy SEC tickets in Nashville. I want lower level
AT one time, UF had Anthony, Billy Donovan and Pelphrey on the staff. That's how you get Mike Miller, Udonis Haslem, Donell Harvey and a half dozen other 5-stars right there. Those guys are machines

Couldnt agree more. Definitely still can turn this season around with a win streak to open up sec play. Im keeping the faith.
Grant will leave after this year if given a good opportunity elsewhere.
I don't know why people are pointing to Jimmie Taylor and Shannon Hale as being big time pickups for our inside game next year. Taylor averaged less than 10 points a game last year. And from all indications Hale is more of an away from the basket scorer. We need another Dudley, Hendrix, Davis or Green to get the job done inside. If that doesn't happen this is the product that we will continue to see. It is that simple people. No reason to keep bringing it up.
