You are 100% correct. And as it stands, barring some late period additions, we still will not be carrying a full roster. CAG needs to go juco, imo.
But im still hoping for the best and some if our bigs (current and signed) will blossom
He should have went JUCO last year and hindsight isn't 20/20 in this case. Going into a season with 10 scholly players, two of which have major injury history(Steele and Gueye) is ridiculous. So you don't want to waste a scholly on a kid out of high school for 4 years, that's fine. Use it on somebody that will only take up 2 years and has some experience of after high school ball and life.
I am extremely frustrated with where this program is at right now and it has everything to do with mismanagement of the roster. You have to be able to see past one season in recruiting. He should have already had somebody lined up to replace Green. Jacobs, in no way shape or form, is that guy. He played well last year in spots where he could play off of Green as the 2nd option down low. He is not a #1 option down low. And I would rather Cooper be trying to score down low as much as stone hands Gueye.
If we had any type of inside scoring threat we would have one loss at the max right now. It is almost impossible to run any type of offense without it. I would be frustrated too if I was Releford or Lacey, like someone else mentioned, with no big man to take some pressure off on the perimeter.
Agree. And I've said the same in prior posts.
Going juco was a no brainer last year. Get some short term, immediate help down low, and get dome athletes who could run and press. Not ideal, but at least gives you the depth needed to run our system
And as you stated, it's a short term (1-2 year) hit to roster spots
and since Hale only had offers from us and from Tennesse and no one else I have to wonder if he is vastly overrated on the recruiting sites.
