Will coach Saban use them both as safeties on the field at the same time?
If LC can get a hold of the playbook..both will be 1st/2nd round draft picks
I think it's a distinct possibility, but the jobs still have to be won. There's going to be quite a bit of competition this spring.
Christopher Walsh covers Alabama football for BamaOnline, 247Sports, and is the author of 18 books.
Perry should be in the mix. I do expect LC and Ha Ha to earn the job.
This is one of the positions I am most excited to watch this fall. That's some serious athleticism with Haha and Collins starting
Can you imagine the pressure packages coach saban will put together for those 2?
really hope so. collins is an athletic freak. tackling/running/hitting machine
vinnie and the others have a big leg up on the playbook, though
hard to say who starts in base
Jarrick Williams was in line for heavy playing time before his injury last fall. I look for him to make a serious run at the depth chart.
agree...you get the feeling either he or perry is going to get left out to dry. i think the staff will still want to use vinnie in dime, at least...
What's funny is that I posted a thread last year about either Williams or Perry starting, and kind of got blasted for it. People just didn't get how they could get real playing time when Vinnie played so much as a freshman, and there were two young 5* players on the roster. Williams, in particular, was a high 4* who has been in the system now for 4 years... I think he has as good a shot as any.
somethings gotta give though...i doubt we go 4 safeties in dime. haha is guaranteed, you gotta think vinnie is at worst the third safety in dime, so that leaves one spot between collins, williams and perry, unless there is an injury.
i may be wrong on vinnie (hope i am) but i just think he ends up playing
I pray that Perry is not in the mix. He was not very good last year. I cringed every time he ran out on the field.
CNS was quoted as saying he was the best cover safety on the team last yr
I could see that at one point. Vinnie isn't great in coverage, and honestly Lester wasn't either. Clinton-Dix and LC didn't know what they were doing til' late in the year (and LC may still not).
However, brown is probably right in that Perry is limited athletically, and we really need one of the better athletes (LC, Haha, even JW) to step up and pass them. It's sort of like those of us who hoped Star would pass McElroy. We knew that if it ever happened, it would be because we were getting better at the position (and not because we really expected it to happen).
I guess he and I were watching different games last year.
Perry must be a great "practice" player. He looked lost in games.
hope to see a lot of LC and HaHa.
Man I wish Eddie Williams had kept his head on straight. Wanted to see him at safety too
I am really pulling for him to make a recovery and do some good things this year. He would have played a role last year for sure. Damn shame he got hurt.
I hope so.
If its Vinnie, help us. He plays hard but he is not fast enough in coverage and is always exposed.

I disagree respectfully. They are both 1st round picks and Collins will be a top 10. Having both of these 5-star safeties on the field will be beastly!!!
