Auburn AD Jay Jacobs had issued a statement supporting Tony Barbee, saying he expects "our program to show significant improvement" under him.
Christopher Walsh covers Alabama football for BamaOnline, 247Sports, and is the author of 18 books.
In other words, one more year and then you're fired.
It's an uphill battle when your head coach's name is a girls doll.
If you add the number of wins they had in basketball and add that to the number of wins they had in football, it is still less than the number of wins BAMA had in football alone...SIAP...Anyway, it will be tough for him next year because just like every year it seems in football and in men's hoops I am sure his team will be "young and inexperienced..."

BTW, Barbee makes $1.5 million annually.
“Coach Barbee and I will continue to work together to support our basketball program at the highest level so we can give our fans the kind of program they expect and deserve.”
Auburn finished 9-23.
Going to be tough because they lose their two best players in Sullivan and Chubb.
Pretty much. I know they beat us but they are god awful.
Basically...yea lol. Ole jay doing his part I guess.
“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present.”
I won't miss seeing Chubb one bit.
Would surprise me if they haven't begun back-channel discussions
with Bruce Pearl's people. That program needs an injection of "look
at me" in the worst way.
Pearl can do a hell of a lot better than Auburn even with his NCAA history. He'd be a great fit for their culture though IMO. Either way I think he'll get a higher profile job.
Me either. He and Sullivan seem like they've been at Auburn since 2008 or something like that.
It would be worse if his first name was Klaus.

How Jay Jacobs looks at anyone and gives them a vote of confidence is beyond me. auburn's president needs to be giving Jacobs the same assessment.
They had 3 senior starters. They'll be in a world of hurt next season. I feel it will Be Barbee's last.
It's never good when the AD says he supports you
Pray for Tuscaloosa and Roll Tide!
Hope he stays for a while.
It's funny because its true.
I cannot tell you how pleased I am that they have no impulse to improve. If Gus goes 6-6, they'll double his salary and lobby for the Bryant Award.
Much like their fans thinking they were getting Petrino they will all think they are hiring pearl this time. However they will prolly hire another coach that is 1 or 2 years removed from being an assistant for a big name coach.
Yep. Their fans have an inflated sense of reality when it comes to their athletic programs and who might want to coach there. Malzahn was the only football coach that wanted to be there and the basketball program is horrible. The pro-Auburn state mediots were touting Barbee when he was first hired but all he's done is run the program further into the ground.
