BOL Daily Briefing (10/12)

  • Chris Walsh

Next game: Alabama at Missouri, Saturday, 2:30 p.m. (CBS).

Forecast: Windy with scattered thunderstorms in the morning. Then mainly cloudy late. High 78F. Winds S at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of rain 50%.
Evening: Thunderstorms. A few storms may be severe. Low 61F. Winds SSW at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 90%.

    Crimson Tide schedule:
Baseball will hold scrimmages today (3 p.m.), and Saturday (10:30 a.m.). Both are open to the public.
    Men’s basketball opens practice today.
Volleyball visits South Carolina today; LSU on Sunday.
Soccer hosts Mississippi State today; Missouri on Sunday.
Swimming and diving visits Auburn today.
Track and field hosts the Crimson Classic on Saturday.
Softball’s first weekend of Fall Brawl begins Oct. 20.
Women’s basketball hosts an exhibition against Stillman on Nov. 5.

Stat of the day: Opponents are almost three times likely to turn the ball over against the Alabama defense than score a touchdown this season. Of the 59 drives started, 14 were ended by a turnover, with five reaching the end zone. Incidentally, 25 possessions have resulted in a three-and-out, with just two resulting in a field goal.

Did you know?: Since 2003, Alabama has lost 36 games. Of them, 21 were by seven or fewer points.

Quote of the day: “Anytime I’ve ever gotten here in the morning he’s already here. I’m pretty sure he’s got a little bed back in his office.” _ Junior linebacker C.J. Mosley on Nick Saban.

Trivia question of the day: During the offseason BOL reported that among active FBS teams only 16 had winning records against Alabama, including Michigan. Of the remaining 15, eight have more than one victory against the Crimson Tide including Missouri (1-2). For one point name the other seven programs, and for another name the school among them that Alabama has never defeated.

(Reminder, any changed answer us automatically disqualified because it makes it impossible to tell who had the correct answer first).
