I know in football the assistants are offense or defense. In basketball is one of the assistants
offense and one defense? If so, maybe Grant can improve the offense next year by bringing in someone that knows how to run a offense. I expect Grant to return next season.
To me this is a big part of CAG problems. His staff was much better at VCU in my opinion. If I was Mal, the only way CAG would be retained for another year would be if he hired 2 new assistants. JMHO, RTR
I see this suggestion made on the board and it makes me scratch my head. Grant has been running this same "offense" for the entire time he's been at UA, so this is obviously the system he wants to run. My guess is that just like in football, the head coach decides what offense and defense he wants to implement. So the notion of CAG hiring an "offensive" coach to put in a new system makes no sense to me. Unless, of course, CAG decides after four years of scoring in the 50s it's time for a change.
Don't forget Shaka Smart was one of Grants top assistants and look how he has done. So yes assistants make a big deal.
Shaka Smart was not an assistant under Grant.
When I'm at the game I count as many as 13 coaches&Support Staff in the huddle you would think with that many people somebody would figure out how to get things better . So what I'm saying is Grant got largest Basketball staff in school history. I't looks crazy that is more staff in the huddle than players.
It must have been Shaka Zulu.
