FIU has led MTSU the entire game. With a loss, MTSU will get an at-large and the Sun Belt champ would be stealing a bid from a "last four in" team.
Bama needs to just win the SEC tournament.

I'm not sure they do. Their strength of schedule is pretty bad. They have a good rpi but that's likely to tumble with a loss tonight.
Also the committee keeps saying they will not reference the rpi during the selection process.
MTSU has a great nonconference SOS
Per our good buddy Jerry Palm:
Middle Tennessee has just one top 100 RPI win, at home vs Ole Miss. I can't see much hope for them as an at-large if they need it.
I think they get in as an at-large.
Big time scoop by FIU
Wow...what an upset
I wish MTSU would win just so the committee wouldn't have to make a decision.
Their SOS is 128 (for comparative purposes, Bama's is 85.)
Would be hard to keep a 28-win team out but 26 of those wins meant literally nothing.
I would like to see us in the tournament if for no other reason to get some additional playing time against some decent competition.
With that said - We shouldn't be in the tournament - we, in no way, deserve it. Nor does UT or Ole Miss for that matter. We all three have been only average at best.
All this year's NCAA excitement is like going to the Independence Bowl in football .....
Believe half of what you see, and none of what you hear.
Their season basically consisted of beating Ole Miss and Vandy, and losing to Florida. Followed by 3 months of nothing.
Hell...half the SEC could almost say it beat OM/Vandy and lost to Florida. And the SEC is a bad league.
I hate when the talking heads advocate for the "little guys" by using a double standard.
Sounds a lot like our season too.. but we didnt even beat Ole Miss....
And we're squarely on the bubble (as we should be.) MTSU should be in the discussion, but to look at their gaudy record and assume they're safely in is rewarding them for essentially doing nothing.
Compare them to another team that's in a one-bid league and has a great record - Memphis. Memphis has an SOS in the 70s, an RPI in the 20s, beat nobody who mattered and ran roughshod through a bad league. They will more than likely be a 7-9 seed.
MTSU has an SOS in the 120s. They should be an 11-12 seed or out altogether.
If I'm not mistaken that bowl was a spring board for our program. Although I always see the bashing it takes from many of you, I see the glass half full perspective.
IMO this was the spring board for our program.
Edit: not just Julio but that entire '08 class in general.
I'm just saying, MTSU may get in. The bubble is weaker than it has ever been
