per yahoo. WOW!
Dear Auburn/UT - that is how you make a splash hire.
Didnt see that one coming...call me impressed. RTR!
He's sick of that underhanded SEC recruiting stuff that Urban Meyer brought to the Big 10.
There goes Tenpenny as well most likely.
Meh. Minus Rustle Wilson, what has Bielema done? Shouldn't have even been in the Big 10 championship game this year, except for other programs' probations.
Damn! Didn't even cross my mind.
all about relationships. Who is to say Tenpenny gets the warm and fuzzies when he meets Bielema. Take yourself back to when you were 17. You wouldn't have gone and played for someone that you didn't like. No doubt Bielema will immediately target Tenpenny. We'll know fairly quickly if Tenpenny is interested.
He's a good coach, but this really seems to be out of left field. I'd have thought Briles or Gundy would've been a MUCH better hire given their immediate needs and talent on the roster.
They're not currently built to line up and grind people into the pavement. Long-term that's the kind of team you need to win the SEC, but can a Midwestern guy get the talent in the South you need to get to win here?
I think people are regarding it as a slam dunk hire because it's so unexpected, but ultimately he's 2-4 in bowls, never won the Rose Bowl, and competed in a watered down joke of a league. Not to mention 8-5 and .500 in the B1G this year...
DANG! That is who I wanted Bama to hire when Saban retires!
I think Tenpenny stays with the good guys....He has built a lot of relationships with our coaches and university over the last year....Just my opinion though....RTR!
There's a lot of blood, sweat, and guts between dreams and success.
Also just reported espnu. Arkansas got a hellava coach. Once he gets players that fit his system they will be a challenge. Good coach for the sec glad the barn didn't get him.
Well I don't see where we have a shot with Hunter Henry anymore, not that we had room if the current commits stick. I really hope we stay on top of Tenpenny and keep him focused on Bama.
"You don't always get what you want, but you always get what you deserve"
Now that is out of left field.
I think he is a good coach. He has sustained that program and taken it to greater heights then when Alverez left it to him.
The ONLY thing that would give me pause would be this year when he lost Chryst to Pitt and he then took a few of the assistants. Then things sort of took a down turn. Coaches have off years and I wouldn't expect them to win them all. But the nature of this downturn is what would concern me.
Even with that concern I think this is a bold move by Arkansas and a very good move by Arkansas. Excellent choice and now you have another nice job open and on the market.
Bret will not like SEC recruiting...
This must be the staff unrest that betting guy on Finebaum last week was talking about that wasn't being reported. Everyone assumed, after the way the game went down, that it was Pelini.
Unimpressed. Has not been overpowering in Big Ten and now must face Saban, Miles, Sumlin etc. every year.
Lets see since 2006 when he started:
11-2 Big 10 Champs...without Wilson
11-3 Big 10 Champs with Wilson
7-5 Big 10 Champs without Wilson
Last time I checked Wisconsin wasn't a blue blood.
Some of you guys would disqualify or crap on any coach out there if they have ever lost a game at any point.
Guy is a pretty darn good coach if you ask me.
It's going to be hilarious when he starts crying about unfair/ungentlemanly recruiting in the SEC.
