Anyone read the article this morning by will grant? Just bashing the browns and them picking trent at # 3. Ive never heard of this guy, is he a barber or what?
Well..... it IS the "barningham news".
Sounds like another butt hurt barner. I don't read or click on anything from Al.com
"Once in awhile you get shown the light in the strangest of places you have to look at it right."
"Show class, have pride, and display character. If you do, winning takes care of itself." -Coach Bryant
I make it a habit not to read any of the 4 Major State of Alabama Newspapers, because of their biased for auburn & against Alabama. I would advise you to do the same.
Well Tom Brady was a 6th rd pick. Bart Starr was a 17th rd pick and JaMarcus Russell and Ryan Leaf were picked first and second overall.
I live in southeastern Louisiana, and it's always surprising to me to hear of an angle like that taken by a "hometown" Alabama newspaper. The Times-Picayune (New Orleans), I can assure you, had nothing but fluff and praise for LSU's first round picks and the teams who picked them. I mean, who does the Birmingham News think is their readership? It's crazy. I know that this has been hashed and rehashed, and I don't know if it's AU bias or trying to prove they are objective reporters, but it just seems like bad business to me. It's local sports - you're basically speaking to fans here, not trying to win a Pulitzer with your proven reporting.
Gotta love auto-correct on mobile... and I hate those Barbers!
The NFL is more of a passing league now.
Brady, Manning, Brees, all won titles without great running backs.
The NFL is all about passing games right now.
Birmingham News is trash
Sure, and everybody knows that, the QB is the most valuable position on the field by a huge margin. However a great RB is still very valuable and you would have to be retarded to draft Ryan Tannehill overTrent Richardson.
Where did I say I'd draft Tannehill over Trent?
Hell I forgot Rodgers. Another QB who won a title due to the passing game.
You should have stopped reading when he stated the Texans did not make the playoffs.
Take what you want from this, but since 2000, the winning Super Bowl team had the following RBs:
2000 Ravens - Jamal Lewis, Preist Holmes
2001 Patriots - Kevin Faulk
2002 Bucs - Michael Pittman, Mike Alstott (Pro Bowl FB)
2003 Patriots - Kevin Faulk
2004 Patriots - Corey Dillon (Pro Bowl), Kevin Faulk
2005 Steelers - Jerome Bettis, Willie Parker
2006 Colts - Joseph Addai
2007 Giants - Brandon Jacobs, Ahmad Bradshaw
2008 Steelers - Willie Parker
2009 Saints - Reggie Bush, Pierre Thomas
2010 Packers - Ryan Grant (didn't play in the Super Bowl)
2011 Giants - Brandon Jacobs, Ahmad Bradshaw
They weren't exactly scrubs (for the most part), but there isn't a whole lot of Pro Bowlers in there either
Out of that list, 2 guys with HOF potential.
I understand how the NFL works today but still think other than the two QB's taken before him Trent was the only viable option to make the lowly Browns instantly appreciably better .
