I don't think it is out of the question he is the QB his senior season after AJ leaves...He has the #2 job nailed down and could possibly get all of those reps for one more year, I don't think it's impossible that he could improve his passing and knowledge of the offense enough to get a shot after AJ leaves....
I would love for BS to get his shot. A guy with his athletic ability playing a position of need, even though he probably isn't a NFL prospect at that spot. That's putting team first. A guy like that deserves his opportunity. Plus he's got plenty of game experience.
His mobility is a huge asset, but the guy just isn't a very good passer. Cooper Bateman may get a look there too.
Honestly I would think this one means the others are way behind. & that isn't a knock on Sims. But until the other Sims left. He wasn't even gonna be in consideration for qb last season. Losing a backup like Philip Sims really made the staff scramble imo.

imo we could win with Blake at QB & while his grasp of the #2 spot looks good going into 13, i would say he's far from a lock in 14.
vastly underrated RF-Alec Morris will get alot more love come spring and with two springs under their belts by 14, Bateman & Del Rio
could both make a play for the position. only time will tell how it unfolds.
Good points and I dont think it is out of the question either and I think he could do the job...I think it is also possible that if Bateman is the 5 star on the field, in his playbook and in the film room that he has been rated as a recruit, he may be tough to beat out after a redshirt season next year under the wings of Nuss and AJ...(and of course CNS)...
I just can't see it. He has a worse throwing motion than Tebow. A couple of years ago, we got to the point where AJ was number 2 even though he was redshirting. We hoped not to play him. Its possible that was the case with Morris this year.
I don't know, but I think with a spring, summer and fall camp in front of them there will be a more natural passer that will step in. Don't knw if it will be Bateman or Morris, but I think one wil step up and BS will be refined as a wildcat and change of pace guy.
He got the backup more as emergency imho. Ely clearly wasn't ready if AJ went down. & Sims gave staff a qb that would mesh well with our running game. I think competition heats up big time in the Spring. May the best man win.
I don't think he is ever the starter.
No offense, but I've never seen Blake run our base-offense - don't believe anyone has. Now, I'm a very big fan of his, but I've just not seen evidence that he's going to be more than just a Read-Option QB for the rest of his career. It appears to me that the frontrunner to succeed AJ is Alec Morris.

Blake Sims skill set is a somewhat shorter quarterback that is more of a run first quarterback. Looking at Coach Saban's history, he has been more of true pro set, drop back qb tha stays in the pocket guy.
I think Sims could develop into a pretty good qb, IF (big IF) Coach Saban wanted to design an offense more around Sims' skills. I do not think coach Saban will do that. For that reason, I do not see Sims as ever being the starting qb.
Sound logic....why change your style? When most of our qb's don't fit that skill set?
Don't know where the "not a good passer" garbage is coming from. He has a VERY STRONG arm and is accurate on the run. Some of y'all just talk out of your ass sometime.
Don't know of he will ever start but glad to have him as a solid backup.
Oh, my bad. Point me to this footage of Blake making strong accurate throws on the run, not sure how I missed it.
Im not sure he will ever start. I think Alec Morris will start in '14. But I do think he will have a role running the read option to help out Morris/Bateman and give defenses something more to prepare for. Its basically the wildcat with someone who can pass pretty good.. Really tough to stop.
