Sorry if I missed a post about this but didn't see one. I was pleasantly surprised with Sims' throwing ability, especially on the run. I know it was just Western Carolina but he had some velocity on his throws and the fact he can run or pass is just one more thing for UGA and ND to have to prep for on defense. RTR
He is a little too impatient in the pocket and takes off at the first little bit of trouble, which works against Western Carolina but won't consistently beat SEC teams but did show nice zip on a couple of throws.
I agree. I think he can be a solid #2 and makes me feel a little better about our QB situation.
Saban said that Sims can throw the ball, but has not been given very many opportunities during games. On the NS show sunday night, Saban eluded to this again complimenting Sims throwing ability.
Kid definitely has a live arm...but as others have mentioned, seems more interested in running at times and doesn't looks completely comfortable just standing in the pocket. That said, it is fun watching him make plays when he's in the game. Was glad he got to take some snaps under center and sit in the pocket and read a defense outside of practice.
In the situations where Blake has come in, I'm not so sure that he has been given many plays that aren't just a single or two receiver(s) progressions. If neither of those two are there, pull it down and run. This enables him to get some game speed reads, but takes all the pressure off having to make multiple checkdowns. Not saying all his snaps have been limited progressions, but definitely think the staff is trying to put him into a position to be successful and build confidence.

It'd be nice to see him get at least a quarter of playing time this week.
I think we should use him in more competitive games in the future. He is a home run hitter on the ground and could catch defenses with their pants down if they load the box. If our offense starts stalling out, like it often does, I would love to see him get a series. Defenses would not be prepared for it.
I hope Blake gets 3 quarters against Auburn.
Add a no-huddle with him in...Oregon type offense, and then go back to pounding the ball. It may take each team 3 weeks to prepare for
That play-action bootleg pass to Shinn was nifty. Spun it in there nicely.
He did look good. Great zip
However it's easy to point out the good in a blowout win. I wonder how he will perform in a tight game where he has to make some throws. Hopefully that won't happen this year

I guess Shane thinks Yeldon will flip to Bama after he enrolls at Auburn. Brilliant. Sell those subscriptions, BOL.” - TIGER
There could be worse things than him taking off. Better than a throw-away.
Hopefully he gets more opportunities to throw the ball down the road. Hope we win big Saturday and he gets some action
