Given the depth at RB, does Sims show up at a different position this spring, or will he continue to fight for carries as a RB?
Sims is a play maker,he needs to have the ball.
IF IT FEELS GOOD,YOU AIN'T DOING IT RIGHT!
I could see Sims as a great slot receiver or at least in the return game. I agree that he has too much potential to get bogged down in the RB numbers. I trust our coaching staff to get him enough opportunity to see the field if he wants it bad enough.
I agree. Sims reminds me of Randall Cobb with the ball in his hands. Great lateral quickness, good speed, very instinctive, and good strength. There are a lot of potential playmakers on offense for us which limits opportunities for each of them.
Great talent on a very talented football team. Although if he was gonna have a roll. I'd think we'd hear more about him seperating himself from some of the other guys. That doesn't seem to be the case.

This Spring will be a great opportunity for him to separate himself. With only 4 scholarship RB's participating this Spring, his reps will increase and his confidence should as well. If he protects the football then he will have a role on our offense.
Sorry... but he doesn't compare to the other rb's we have right now. I've never viewed Sims as a true rb. I just think that's the only spot they could get him on the field at the time. I don't know where he ends up. But tell me. Who is he gonna take reps from at the rb position? He'll get reps in the Spring no doubt. But once Lacy is healthy & Drake gets here in the Summer. That's another long jam of talent for him to move through.
He has very good size and great athleticism. I realize that every RB on our roster is a great talent but he is a good enough athlete to contribute despite all that talent. He just needs time in the system and good things will happen for him. The beauty of our situation at RB is that we have different players with different skill sets and Blake's skill set is unique. He may never be a starter for us (same could be said for Jalston Fowler, Dee Hart, TJ Yeldon, and Kenyan Drake) but he can definitely carve out a role for himself.
He's been on campus awhile now. I'm not sure his role. But I still think he'll be down the lsit of rb's imo. I think we'll found by Fall if he's gonna be getting a look at a new position . He could end up knocking some guys heads off on defense! LOL
I just worry about moving him around so much that he never develops properly. I think he could be an excellent Safety (also a log jam of talent there) or even a cornerback (where he would have to wait his turn as well). No clear position where he could be plugged in and start but 5 years ago he could have started at numerous positions for us. We are just loaded.
I'm also a little shocked that he isn't used on all special teams. Perhaps he will this year idk.
If Blake Sims was capable of making contributions up to this point, we'd have seen it. If he's capable of making contributions in the future, we'll see them. The staff doesn't misuse players. They use the players that are usable.
We did. He was 3rd string, was he not?
Wirh his size and speed if love to see him on special teams at least
