And they may have got the chance, had IOWA STATE not beat that ass!
What are the qualifications for becoming a print columnist these days? Are they really expected to have a 4 year degree in order to produce such garbage? Here are 3 of the more obvious flaws I could find from that column:
1) What the hell is wrong with Stoops face? Was he attacked by a leech? Bitten by a vampire? Suffer from a bad sexual episode? If you're going to feature a photo of the main subject of your column with a mysterious "mark" on his face, you should at least go to the trouble of explaining it. Either that or find a different photo of the man. Dear God.
2) The author already had to retract incorrect information about Ole Miss' record last season, but he still has yet to detect incorrectly categorizing Western Kentucky as a "1-AA" team. He also tabs Texas as the "5th or 6th best team in the Big 12" last year, but they actually finished with the 3rd best record in the Big 12. Really brings into question his credibility when it comes to his knowledge of college football.
3) The author selectively chooses the Ole Miss/Texas game last year as a litmus test for the true strength of the SEC, while completely ignoring Oklahoma's embarrassing loss to Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl. So the 3rd best team in the Big 12 beating the 9th best team in the SEC is relevant to the discussion, but the 5th best team in the SEC absolutely steamrolling the 2nd best team in the Big 12 isn't worth mentioning? Especially when that Big 12 team just happens to be Oklahoma, whose coach is the one questioning the strength of the SEC in the first place.

The butthurt is strong in Oklahoma.
...wouldve gotten rolled jus like that Iowa State team did eh?
uhh bobbie? u aint know?
Bowl record over the last decade:
Big 12 (40-39)
Big 10 (28-47)
He really did put his foot in his mouth. This is a classic example of perception outweighing reality. Yes - the SEC did have 4 or 5 really bad football teams last year - AU, UT, KY, MIzzou and Arky. But we also had 8/14 schools with .500 or better conference records - the Big 12 had 4. We had 6 schools with 2 conf losses or less - they had 2.
57% of the SEC had a .500 record or better compared to 40% for the Big 12
43% of the SEC had 2 conf losses or less Compared to 20% for the Big 12
We all know what happened in the Bowl games vs them, so I think this conversation is really just Bobby being butthurt. Or I guess they all think a bunch of mediocre teams beating each other and having 4-5 or 5-4 conference records defines a conference as "more balanced". Yes - it is more balanced, but in a bad way. you can balance shit against gold too Bob.
now that's funny!!
Yeah - I love the logic that OSU wouldve beaten Bama but maybe not LSU; or the other logic that Bama didnt deserve to be there but anyone who watched the game would clearly say otherwise.
