Finescum is saying Auburn will have to shut the program down for a year or two. He had a guest on from Ohio who agreed. I don't understand why AU would get into trouble..
Finebaum is a rating-chasing whore who doesn't know anything about Auburn or this investigation.
I can't imagine our site administrator /mods posting something like this. How unprofessional is that?
I have to think he knows what he's talking about when it comes to "rating-chasing whores"
other than the years when they were paying charles barkley (his words, not mine), hasn't auburn basketball always been shut down?
During Finebaum's conversation with the Yahoo reporter who broke the story it was mentioned that Tulane had a similar situation (in 1985) and the program was shut down; PF did not say AU would be shut down, just that the penalty can be that severe in such cases. Finebaum gave credit to the AU officials for getting on top of the situation asap. Perhaps it is Matthews who doesn't know anything about the AU investigation.
Do a little research and you will see that, on the surface, there's very little similar about the situations at Tulane and Auburn, and if Finebaum was even half of a journalist...which he isn't...he would have made the point. FIrst of all, at Tulane, four starters were in on it. Second, it wasn't just point shaving that shut down the program. In fact, point shaving alone probably wouldn't have been enough to sht down the program. The head coach and assistants actually confessed to paying players.
Now, it may come out that Barbee has been paying his players. If so, the fact that they actually paid good money for these clowns may be the funniest sports story in years. But the reality is that, if this is just one player shaving points, this isn't anything like the mess that happened at Tulane.

Barner Matthews trying to cover himself now by deleting that thread
I think he deleted the original post and posted a new one. What an idiot. Now he doesnt even believe in or want other people to see his idiotic thoughts. They are something else over there.
The real question is if they shut the program down, would anyone care, or even notice?
Certainly no barners would.
