The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 2 Cor 10:4
Should drop 41, but I don't think we should replace it with 66. We did not win that one, even though we should've. Adding in one that we have no basis for adding (and by basis, I mean AP or coaches poll) does nothing to quiet the blabbering masses. Drop it to 14 and wait until next year to break out our 15 gear again!
^This. Drop 41 and leave it at that.
We can talk all day about what we wish would happen, but realistically, what are the chances it ever does? What would it take for this issue to get serious consideration by the university or athletic department, and who would ultimately make the call?
If Notre Dame drops the 66& 77 titles I would go along with it ,only then.

This is a must read on the 1941 title. It explains how and why (as much as there is a "why") it was selected, and shows how it is all the result of one man's unilateral decision in the 1980's.
Before Wayne Atcheson's research in the 1980s, the Tide had 6 national championships. Take an interactive look at each title claim.
Jon Solomon loves him some Barn.
“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present.”
Don't disagree, but it's worth the read just for the interview with Atcheson and how he made those decisions as SID. The point is, the title was unequivocally not claimed during the Bryant era, and was picked up under Perkins over 40 years later.
Go into a recruits living room, ask him how many titles we have, and he'll say 15.
Claiming 15 helps lead to 16, and so forth. I'd say leave it alone.
I agree. That's really the only one that makes us look silly. I would also argue that we might should drop 73, but that's much more understandable that 41. As of this post, you have 28 upvotes out of 28 votes so I think the fanbase is in agreement with you.
I say drop it
this - everyone should memorize this.
even when someone says our 41 is a joke - agree and spit this out..it will shut everyone up.
and better yet, we are going to be adding at min 2 more, most likely 3 within the next ten years.
I've said it before and i'll state it again, Saban is so driven, he wants to be the best, and to be the best (as ND found out) you have to beat the best. i don't see him coaching 25 years, but i see him breaking Bear's NC record. he probably won't touch the Bowl or SEC record though.
while i agree with your logic, removing one isn't that big of a deal. if we were here discussing 4 or 5.... i'd be more inclined to argue. :)
Whenever someone tries to drag me into the "illegitimate titles" argument, I say that I, personally, only recognize two: the last one and the next one.
I agree with Cecil. Hopefully this will gain steam and actually happen. We can go for #15 next year.
