I know Black is red shirted this year because of the injury but i havent heard much on Eddie since the season started, whats the word on these two guys? Both were rated above Cooper and we've seen how Cooper has been this year, but are either Williams or Black on the same level as Cooper? My friend was trying to tell me Black is just as good if not better but i refuse to believe him. Would be awesome for next year if its true.
Williams moved to safety.
No one is on Cooepr's level right now, but Black does have a lot of potential.
Christopher Walsh covers Alabama football for BamaOnline, 247Sports, and is the author of 18 books.
id love to see williams stay at safety but lucky was saying he is on his way back to receiver. if so, surely he woudl be there for these bowl practices i would think
but yeah, coop is the creme of the crop by a wide margin
Wish the situation with Eddie would just settle down already. Yeah, I know I'm not one of the coaches, but even I know this going back and forth is messing with the kid's development.
Going back and forth between DB and WR I don't think is that detrimental. He will learn a lot either way and this being a redshirt year, I just don't think it's that big of a deal.
Malcolm Mitchell for example is one of the best players on the UGA team and has back and forth throughout his career.
Vince Lombardi was asked how it felt to have the best football team in the world. He replied, I don't know. We haven't played Alabama yet.
While I don't disagreee with what you are saying Mitchell proved to be a stud (and started as a frosh) on one side of the ball and was asked to help on the other side b/c he was so talented.
IMO if Eddie was as talented as Mitchell at either WR or Safety he wouldn't have been moved back to the other one.
Now, it could be a situation where our coaches saw how talented the other 3 Wrs are going to be in his class andd thought he could play D b/c we were thin at Safety and now that the season is over they are moving Eddie back to the place he has the best chance to accel. Not really sure but most times RS frosh are moved back and forth b/c they have accelled at one spot.
Our staff really seemed to put everything in the Robert Foster basket. If he goes to Pitt, I think the chances are better that he moves back to WR. If Foster comes to Bama, I think Williams stays at safety.
We've got plenty of guys ready to play at WR. We need some talent at the S spot.
You know that Foster committed to Bama right?
BJ Scott says hello.
I hope people aren't expecting Black to be Cooper next year. He's not on that level. He can be a really good WR by the time he leaves but don't expect him to have a year like Cooper's.
I don't really think we ruined BJ Scott's career because it took him a while to find a position. The kid just wasn't that talented.
Yea I agree. I think that he hasn't excelled at any particular positions and they are still feeling him out. I am just saying that don't think the transitioning in his redshirt year will stunt his development.
I would agree with that.
Unfortunately I can't think of a player that has ended up having a great career at Bama that was moved back and forth from offense to defense since Saban has been here. That is probably my biggest concern with Williams.
Things can obviously change.
Only one I can think of that was really successful is Jimmie Johns...other than that you are right.
Didn't Fowler practice at linebacker for a while as a freshman, a game or two into the season?
Yes. haha waiting for the LOI tho.
He started at LB and then moved. That has happened a couple times as Michael Williams started at DE and moved to TE early in his frosh year.
I was referring more to players that start at one place and then are tried somewhere else only to be moved back. IMO, if they were a difference maker at either position they wouldn't be moved.
