Sitting in the new weight room, he and Herby were talking about how tough it is for a team like Bama to stay motivated, and Fowler says:
"But the talent is amazing. You watch these Alabama practices, there's numbers out there; you've never seen this guy or heard of him, and he's running around like another freak of nature. They continue to come through."
Good stuff. Getting a lot of good free pub today on ESPNU as Chris and Herby are in Tuscaloosa.
The state is the great fictitious entity by which every man believes he can live at the expense of every other. - Frédéric Bastiat
Mr burns says... "excellent"
Competition at its best at every position on the field. Players know it, they also know they can loose a starting spot in a minute if they start having mental or hustle let downs.
D. Dooley said after the Bama game last year "When you play Alabama, only the jersey numbers change.....the players are the same." Well said Mr. Dooley......well said!
They say that every year, that it will be tough for Alabama to stay motivated and it never makes any difference, they are just looking for excuses to doubt.
If anyone can keep them motivated to "stay the best" or more appropriate "be the best" since this team hasn't won anything yet, its Coach Saban. He is a master of psychology. Complacency and satisfaction is what can happen now. A sharp eye could recognize it in an instant and we all know Saban will not let that happen. We beat a better LSU team last year because Saban had them prepared for the 2min offense. We scored at the end of each half and that was the difference. We almost pulled it off against TAMU. We did against UGA. Its now part of our MO. That's not going away over night. Not with this talent and these coaches.
I think you'll find some people who take issue with "better LSU team" but that was a dark 2nd half until the final drive. Last year's team was the antithesis of 2010-- and it showed in the results.
Thinking about almost losing those games makes me as a fan hungrier. It really won't get boring until we're beating everyone by 17 points.
If "distance from losing" is a measurment, 2011 was far and away the best of these Bama teams. We lose 1 game in Overtime and win the rest by 16+ points. Give them the O from the next year, and that's the best team in CFB history.
