Reminds me of the fellas who find Jesus in jail after murdering a family of 12 ...
He apologized because he got caught on tape....
And....he wanted to try and lessen the ass rape that's coming if he is still coaching the Commodores the next time they play The Crimson Tide...
its real easy to have class after u call somone that to alot of people,i respect what he has done at vandy but im staritin to not like him very much.
I don't know what the big deal is. When Spurrier makes remarks its ol ball coach is funny. Franklin says something and he has no class. What gives?
Some of you kill me. I doubt CNS cares one way or the other what was said about him. He accepted the apology and it is between the two coaches. Here we have people on this board calling him names, passing judgement doing basically the same thing but he is the bad guy. I do not know enough about the enviroment, the way it was said, intended, nor the extent to the apology recieved to cast judgement.
To boot, I see way worse on this board eating our own when we disagree with each other over recruits, play calling, playing ability, player performances...you name it. If you personally know this guy, I apologize but I doubt all of you saying he is a jerk, goob and classless personally knows him or was there when he said it. Video recordings do not tell the whole story.
Yes. Rarely is video evidence considered proof of something. (g) CNS is all business. Not someone that I think would take himself lightly. He accepts the apology, but I bet Franklin's name is now on the list
Never Gets Old
SOS has never been a "classy" guy....he was a jerk when he was at Florida and still one at USC. I don't think he brings anything to the game anymore. His teams are overrated, and when favored tend to choke on the biggest stage. I wish he would retire.
I agree with you. Guy made a Ike, media blew it up. Hey, he maned up and called coach and apologized.
Really shouldn't get anyone's underoos in a wad, IMHO
Coach Sabans secretary: Coach Saban, You have a call from Coach Frankin on line one
Coach Saban: Who?
I love coach Saban as much as anyone else but he has said he's made mistakes and wishes he had done some things differently. Other than Alabama fans, Saban is thought of as classless. Do we care what others think? No. So why are we ridiculing a young coach who has to learn life lessons just like our coach has.
Does the video show the entire context of the meeting/speaking? Ever heard of editing? They play just a short portion of the speech they want you to hear. Franklin himself stated it was taken by the media and made out to be something it wasn't. I believe he deserves the benefit of the doubt.
Granted I think what he said was no grand insult and has been overblown. But why does he deserve the benefit of the doubt. No public figure that makes public comments gets the benefit of the doubt anymore. He is a head coach in the SEC and a representative of Vanderbilt University. Needs to be smarter. This isn't the first Off color comment he has publicly made.

Well maybe I do not follow him close enough. I do not know of any other comments like this. Everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt regardless of thier position imo until they have proven otherwise.
"Hi, Coach Saban? Errr..ah, yeah.. I'm real sorry I called you Satan and whatnot. I was joking."
"Are we good?? We are??? Well, thanks, means a lot, Coach."
"By the way, I really like what you're doing down there and all...
"Really!??! You like what I'm doing at here at Vandy?? That's awsome!!!"
"Well cool...not much else to say...I guess...except maybe...
LET'S GO BOWLING!!!!!"
He probably didn't have much of a choice, but it doesn't take away the way that he doesn't like CNS or he would've never said anything like that. Franklin has done a great job at Vandy, but CNS is still CNS and Bama is still Bama. Some things will never change as bad as others want them to.
We are just message board posters. We are prominent SEC Coaches. That's the difference. He is setting a bad example by calling other Coaches names. And as MESSAGE BOARD POSTERS, its our job to call him out. Don't compare us with him. That's just crazy. Just my 2 cents. Carry on.
Losing doesn't make me want to quit. It makes me want to fight that much harder-Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant
This; he was looking ahead!
Bravo and +1. I know rival fans love to hate on CNS but the Satan jokes are beyond classless. When a head coach says it, it's stupid AND classless. Not to mention incredibly unprofessional and bush league. The head coach of an SEC school should know better than to say something like that. I'd imagine the Vanderbilt alumni who donate a ton of money to that prestigious school didn't like this kind of exposure. Franklin has done about as well as you can do at Vandy but picking a fight with the greatest college football coach in the nation isn't very bright. It's not like we're competing with them for recruits or playing them on the field every year.
Exactly. Know what losers do? Compare themselves to others. Know what winners do? Win.
