Did Vern call him that last at some point? I thought I heard it but was at someone's elses house watching game and had trouble with the sound
Honestly, you never know what Vern is going to say. I did hear him call Tana Patrick something like, "Tanay" Patrick." with the accent on the second syllable…
It does look as if with the big pay checks they receive, the announcers could make sure they have the correct pronunciations of the players. Also, it is not like Tana is a freshman and he has never heard of him...
If so, that's a big step up for verne. At least he got all the elements of his name correct.
I'm pretty sure Tana's name is pronounced "Tanay"
"Show class, have pride, and display character. If you do, winning takes care of itself." -Coach Bryant
He said Cory Mandel to punt and then said Mandel on the return when Lu's caught it. What an idiot. It's embarrassing for CBS to keep him.

You are correct. Verne got that one right.
"A Chiefs starter at outside linebacker the last two years, Patrick, whose first name is pronounced “Ta-nay,” will move to middle linebacker this season."
It was exactly the surly attitude any football coach would want a linebacker to have. Asked how he intended to deal with opponents testing his ability and whether he could live up to the hype, North Jackson High School star Tana Patrick was short and to the point.

Yes Verne did say that but immediately corrected it. I wonder how many of us would be perfect if we were talking into a live microphone during an event that moves as fast as a football game.
I caught that one too. That was hilarious. He discovered the flag all on his own and then realized that it was confetti. The funny thing is that Gary completely ignored him and let him figure it out.
Lol. Looks like verne knows our players better than you do.
