does it ever bother you when other Alabama fans just call him "The Bear"? For some reason it's always bugged me. To others he may be "the bear" but I think to us he's Coach Bryant and that's the only way there is to it.
Choose not a life of limitation
I prefer "Pauly B".
For those who played for him,he should be Coach Bryant.I have no problem with everyone else calling him the Bear.
IF IT FEELS GOOD,YOU AIN'T DOING IT RIGHT!
Doesn't bother me at all...I think it's with respect....
as with everything else in this day and age, people get WAAAY to hung up with actual words and don't pay enough attention to the INTETION behind the words, and how those words are used...
Can you REALLY say it bothers you when a Bama fan just uses the term "The Bear"if said fans says "God, I loved the Bear."? No
Similarly, one could use "Coach Bryant" in the wrong context, "Coach Bryant was a [fill in derrogatory Barner insult].

Being ex-Hawgs, my family has always stuck with the traditional Arkansan appellation for an oldest son - "White Negro." We lol whenever the rubes call CWN The Bear.
Absolutely, Psyhco, I followed Bama from the day he arrived, graduated from Bama while he was there and I never refer to him other than Coach Bryant. Too much respect for him to call him Bear. Listen to his former players when they refer to him, I.e. Joe Namath do you ever hear him refer to him anyway other than Coach Bryant? I consider it very disrespectful. If you can't call him Coach Bryant or Coach Paul Bryant the refer to him as "A Winner" because he has never been anything but a Winner. RTR
His players would only know him as Coach Bryant. When a fan says "The Bear" it is generally out of respect. I have no issue with people calling him The Bear and not really sure why any Alabama fan would have an issue. I'd say lighten up to all those who genuinely take issue with anyone calling him The Bear.
He is and always will be Coach Bryant to me.
YES. it's coach bryant or mr bryant. end of story.
I don't get upset by it, by I will only ever refer to him as Coach Bryant.
My father played football for him and coached for 40+ years. I never heard hm call Coach Bryant anything but Coach Bryant. Therefore, he'll always be Coach Bryant to me.
