CPF is a Principal with a $ management group with which I do bsns.incidently,I am in North Carolina.
Had a brief conversation with him at lunch where he told my colleagues that his crowning achievement was beating Alabama 7 times,
Even if he did create his own reality by setting us up for crippling penalties,it is pretty cool that he defines his coaching career by his record vs Bama.
If the record was exposed,I suspect that many of our honorable competitors do the same.
Anyway,Thurs.evening they had a cocktail party with the Principals and a few of the advisory firm owners/managers.
I had almost exclusive audience with CPF for an hour,or so.
I must say that Coach Fulmer was very charming and a gentleman under the circumstance.
Folks,I know the history and am not naive so try not to inform me about what I should have done to him..g..
The most intersting thing that came from our conversation was him telling me about how Coach Bryant offered him a scholarship which he accepted but Bryant wasn't going to let him play baseball .
Dooley called him up the next week and said he could play both at Tenn and CPF switched.
Some of you may have known that.I didn't.
How history might have changed if......

Don't care. I effing hate him. Snake in the grass douche nozzle swallower. He effing cheated to get us in trouble and walked off scott free. He had a woman admit in court to paying tee martin if tee martin went to tenn. And he got away with it.
Phillip Fulmer is fat and stupid and ugly and smelly.

I understand and don't disagree on those points,at all.
By the way,he had lost a lot of weight
I have 2 predominate remembrances regarding CPF:
1) The absolute brawl I witnessed outside Neyland Stadium the last time Johnny Majors coached UT. The fight was between factions of pro-Majors vs pro-Fulmer fans. Alabama had just beaten them (leading to the post game comment by one our players: "we should pay taxes here - we own the place." I just relished having a ring-side seat for that one. It was just a glorious thing to watch.
2) Seeing Fulmer ,on a BDS jumbotron, standing on the sidelines, literally doubled over in frustration, after Bama had just made a big defensive stop, sealing the deal that UT was going to lose the game - which proved to be the last time CPF ever coached against the Tide.
Aside from those memories, I am completely indifferent to the man.
An illusion. He's still Mangino class.
