If we win the toss..do we recieve or defer?
Receive. We need to jump on them early. JMO
The strategy, first and foremost, is to call "tails" (obviously, because tails never fails). Once we win the toss (again, because tails never fails), we will elect to take the ball. Next, we will run, then run, then pass, then run, then pass, then pass, then score a touchdown. Next, we will kick the ball off (and we, the fans, collectively hold our breath because, well, that's what we do on kickoffs), give up maybe a first down, but ultimately make them punt. Then we will pass, then pass, then run, then pass, then run, then run, then score another touchdown. 14-0 with time still to go in the 1st Q.
At least, I think that will be the strategy.
"Show class, have pride, and display character. If you do, winning takes care of itself." -Coach Bryant
Uga prefers to defer so I say we defer if toss is won. For some reason, we've come out flat some this year receiving first.
I'm lovin' this...go on...what's gonna happen next? Hey..it's time for us to intercept Aaron now that he's gonna be all flustered...I'm not making fun of you...I really do love it!!!!!

seems we have been doing that with saban. i agree with it, but seems to go against what stallings and dubose did, IIRC
I hate it when we opt to receive because we seem to waste that opportunity often ala TAMU. By deferring to the second half it is demoralizing to the other team if you have the lead and the ball to start the 2nd half.
Vince Lombardi was asked how it felt to have the best football team in the world. He replied, I don't know. We haven't played Alabama yet.
overall i think its good to defer, but its so damn damn good to score first
football is a game of momentum and its nice to have that momentum in the second half
that said, i still hope we receive first
I thank our hurry up offense is going to be a factor in this game in a positive way.
Saban will defer if we win the toss. He has done it in every game played in a dome i think..
I think this will be a good indicator of who he trusts more in this game, the D or the O. If we receive, I think that means he loves the game plan and expects a big play on the first drive. However, I think we defer and try to force three and out.
I hope we win the toss and elect to kick ass! I live in Ga and have to listen to these babbling idiots year round. I want a Mich St type of beat down and for Bama to make a statement! I don't want there to be any doubt when this game is over! Roll Tide!!
Psychologically, this is correct play. However, I think we want to start fast so we may take ball. I would defer so we get to set tone in second half - something GA has done well this year.
Hope so. It almost always works
Wish we would use it on at least a drive per half
Agreed: but... We tried that on aTm. Went 3 and out. Gave up a td. Immediately lost first half momentum.
^^^^This is true.
I think we took to many homerun shots early and landed on none of them. I think Saban knows that, but that and LSU are the only games that we didnt land those shots in the opening drive. Since A&M we have had long drives to open the game ending in TDs....if we take a shot it may not be in the first drive, but we will take a shot in our first 3 possessions
i wonder how many of us will be comparing the actual first drive to this setup? just to see...
I agree totally. UGA always defers so we should do it and throw them off their normal from the start. But Saban does love to get the ball first. Sadly when its a 3 and out it hurts us
I have a feeling that we are going to run hurry up offense the first few series to work on wearing down UGA's first string. So I say we get the ball and set the tempo. Let's face it the difference between us and them may be depth more than anything, and the reason why Saban hates the hurry up, is that it neutralizes depth and makes your first string get worn out. All of that adds up to Bama running hurry up, and possibly some dual QB sets with Sims in as a WR then no huddle moving to QB next down to run wildcat, then switching back and forth, That would create personel issues as usually you want an extra safety in the game to spy on a QB during wildcat, and no huddle would prevent them sending in an extra safety without calling a time out, if they do commit to stopping the wildcat with an extra safety that opens up your screen/pro set running game. I see them wrinkling things up some, but only with things that have been shown in small quantities already this year.
