I just do not understand how these kids think that they can get away with these type crimes???
Let's go back in time... When I was at the University in 1992 - 1996 there would be people walking around the University after Midnight, hence, witnesses to crimes...
Unless times have changed in 20 years I would think that people still "mill around" at the same hours, PLUS, now days there are probably 20 or more cameras on each university building for security reasons...
Therefore, I just do NOT UNDERSTAND how these young adults think that they are smarter than the system and are not going to get caught... They have the world by the "short and curly's" and to go an blow it on a couple hundred dollars is beyond me... Or maybe I just don't understand the way these kids think??? Is it street cred that they are after ????
I am not judging anyone because I am no better than my neighbor... I am just confused on how people think they can get away with these type crimes...
You answered your own question. "What do these kids think". Not a dam thing is for sure
Gottal love downvotes for asking a legitimate question...
It is a down voting type day. Must be the rain. I have gotten more down votes today than all my years on this board.
I actually had the nerve to hope that these boys get a chance to get there lives back on track. I mean the nerve!
+1 for you just because

The'80s were a hell a good time
They don't measure the consequence, they just act. That's why some people are in jail while I don't punch the guy that may insult me in line at Target. 2 different types of people. Don't try to make sense of it. Just the way it is.
The death of Alabama (g)... Yeah, they wish. RTR
You would probably be better off just acknowledging that their thought process isn't like yours. I'm not saying that in a smart a#$ sort of way, I'm just stating a fact. I remember distinctly in 1999, I was lounging around in my barracks with some "buddies", and we were all broke as a joke. So we had the bright idea, hey let's rob a pizza man. The sad thing is, we were all dead serious. Now I came from a nice 2 parent home, in the country, shoot I didn't even have cable until I was a senior in high school. No product of a bad environment situation, no drugs, maybe some alcohol, but more or less just pure stupidity. Thankfully, we didn't rob a pizza guy. None of us probably even knew how. But if we had tried, my crew of 5 fresh out of bootcamp guys probably would have seriously hurt someone. We actually rode around looking for one, but I guess the pizza men in that section of D.C. know better than to be out past 9. Now after that, I went on to serve at the Pentagon/White house while obtaining several high level security clearances. I got out the military, started a family, obtained my MBA, and I am a Federal employee now. Now this isn't one those "hey guys let's hope for the best, and maybe they will turn out to be model citizens" type posts. All I'm saying is that, sometimes a person will decide to do something really dumb. There doesn't have to be a motive, a thought process, a will I get away with it thought, a concern about cameras or onlookers, or a rhyme/reason. Sometimes, it's just a really dumb thought, and the individual carries it out. And they will pay, and either continue to make dumb decisions, or allow the results of their actions to change them into productive citizens who actually think their way through dumb ideas.
I feel really safe knowing this.
You should. I got my act together and did a damn fine job patrolling the sea lanes in a 360 foot long submarine, ready to put hot metal on target. So sorry if you are now shivering in your panties at my moment of honesty to bring a little clarity to the fact that sometimes a kid will do, or anticipate doing, something really stupid without giving one thought to what he/she will lose, or to the damage that will be caused.
Right, but in the end you didn't do it. Most men around college age could share a similar story. We went hunting after a party for a dude that punched one of our friends but nothing came of it. There is still a difference in mentality between yourself and someone that carried out the action. On top of that, you may have shoved the guy around to get his money, but you probably wouldn't have beat the crap out of him.
But to answer the OP they obviously weren't thinking. They probably had no idea what they were going to do with the laptop etc. The person who was really stupid was Calloway. He is in jail over what a soda?

LOL... I love that skit, Rick James..
The natural variation of human thought and action is why we have enforceable laws. As tough as it it for these kids we have to lay the wood to them to protect everyone else and to send a message to those that think about doing similar things so they know what happens if they act on those thoughts.

This is meant to be a joke and in no way implies I know anything about the situation.
