and first SEC game is @Missouri... That's pretty tough straight.
@Cincinnati (6-0), Dayton (5-1), @VCU (3-3) @ texas tech (4-0)
VCU lost to Wichita st by 2, Duke by 9 ( I watched the game and Duke pulled away at the end) and Missouri by 3... They beat Memphis by 13. It was Memphis first lost.
Wins over Cincinnati and VCU would be huge for Coach Grant and our program, but losing to one of these teams is no big deal. Grant scheduled a lot of quality opponents on purpose. If Alabama can finish Out of Conference play 11-2 or 10-3 they will be in great shape to make the tournament.
A 2-2 record in that stretch indicates we have a solid team. Anything better than 2-2 will be really exciting. Even if we lose them all the key is to get better and be ready for conference play.
We've played some pretty tough non-conf games on a neutral court, now we get into the hostile environments of Cincy and VCU....really hope our guys are ready. Those would be two great wins to have on the resume.
I see 2-2 honestly.

Texas Tech is probably going to be 6-1 when we play them. We will really see what they have when they play Arizona on Saturday. I am of the opinion that they are pitiful. Their schedule so far is laughable(they are 3-0 in the SWAC).
Dayton has lost to the only decent team they played, a suprising Colorado squad. I think we pay them back for last year.
I am not expecting wins in either of the others. Our inside game is not where it needs to be offensively and we have not shot the ball as well since NYC. Also, we don't appear to be in the greatest health across the board. I will view it as improvement if we have a chance to win at the 5 minute mark. We are a work in progress.
texas tech should be a W., lot of issues in Lubbock. UD win at home, and split the games on the road. 3-1
I posted in one of the live basketball threads that the Cincy, Dayton, and VCU stretch would tell us if we are a legit team. If we got 2-1 or 3-0 against that stretch, then we are going to do fine this year. If we got 1-2 against them, then we will be in for some ups and downs this year.
I would not include Tech in that stretch even with that record. They have been pretty crappy since Bob left them.
It's going to be a tough stretch for the Crimson Tide leading up to conference play. Some very good non-conference opponents will give Alabama a tough test. Alabama will need to stay healthy and out of foul trouble. One advantage is Alabama's effort on defense. The Crimson Tide have played some good shooting teams early in the season and really effected the way they play. One thing to watch will be how the big men hold up against better competition, they have not been asked to do a lot so far this season, but they will need to play well inside on defense and rebounding if the Crimson Tide are going to be successful going forward.

We should beat Dayton and Texas Tech (Tech won only 8 games last year and are still in a massive rebuilding mode after Pat Knight's terrible tenure there).
VCU will be interesting. I think we can beat them but probably will get creamed by Cincy. The reason I think we can beat VCU is that we matchup well with them. They remind me of how we matched up with Georgia in the 2010 season, where Georgia was the better team, but the matchup we had was beneficial to us and we beat them 2 straight games.
VCU almost beat us at home last year. I still don't see how we win that one just yet?
I actually feel like we match up very well with Cincy. They are very guard-heavy just as we are. They have one big man, Justin Jackson, who is very active but he is also prone to foul trouble. They also have several very good 3 point shooters so if we can lock up on the perimeter, which I know we are capable of, we have a decent chance.
