This is awesome. I hope we one day have a home and home with the Mountaineers. Their fans/passion/program seems pretty legit.
At the end of the Big 12 opener WVU/Baylor Full house singing Country Roads
But we have "Dixieland delight"!! g
This is one of the many reasons why there is nothing better in this world than College Football. Tradition, there is nothing like it. Those things can't be duplicated. But it is what makes college football what it is.
Yep, pretty cool. Love it. But give me "Sweet Home Alabama" cranked thru Bryant-Denny on a 60-degree fall afternoon ...
Amen brother, that is a beautiful thing, brings back many great memories.
having been to morgantown several times for games, I can tell you there is nothing "cool" about their fans or stadium.
yeah buddy!!!! Nothing like it!!!
Let me preface this by saying I've never been directly exposed to WVU's stadium, campus or fans. But as someone that worked in sports radio for for a few years during college, mountaineer fans are some of the most arrogant, mouthy a-holes in all of sports. They are as red neck as ut fans. Unwashed as the worst the Baton Rouge trash, and have the same sense of entitlement as, .... well, Bama fans. I honestly dislike their fans far more than any team in CFB.
Totally agree on the WVU comments and home and home would be fun,,,,but Sweet Home Alabama at BDS can't be topped
Man that is really cool
Funny... The word "Cool" didn't come to mind when I saw a bunch of Yellow T-Shirted bros with their arms around each other swaying back and forth and singing.
"Jealous" and "We should do this" are two other non-applicable words/phrases-- also, "let's invite them to the SEC" is another I can't agree with.
...and then they all leave to go burn their sofas in the street.
i love that song, and it's an appropriate one for WVU, BUT, it just seems so anticlimactic to sing AFTER a game...it's too downtempo and laid-back for that. But it is cool to see a stadium full sing it all together...
1960 Les Paul
seems a lot safer than burning couches
I bet the recruits love that....(g)
i know a couple WVU boys...they take Country Roads deathly serious. It is an awesome tradition IMO.
I'm looking forward to seeing what their o can do to our d in 2014.
Pretty cool overall but I agree on the song being too slow.
However, that stadium is pretty weak. Reminds me of that dumper in Shreveport....
I wouldn't say "the world". I can't stand Liverpool, but this is one of the greatest traditions in all of sport.
Ps... Background info...
The 1989 Hillsborough disaster was a human crush and a panic which occurred during the FA Cup semi-final match between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest on April 15th 1989 at the Hillsborough Stadium in Sheffield, England. The crush resulted in the deaths of 96 people and injuries to 766 others. The disaster remains the worst stadium-related disaster in British history and one of the world's worst football disasters. They called the deaths "accidental".
But in September 2012, the Hillsborough Independent Panel concluded that up to 41 of the 96 who had died might have been saved had some failings been addressed. The report revealed "multiple failures" by other emergency services and public bodies which contributed to the death toll. In response to the panel's report, Attorney General for England and Wales, Dominic Grieve MP, confirmed he would consider all the new evidence to evaluate whether the original inquest verdicts of accidental death could be overturned.
This was the first Liverpool home match since the findings were made public.
