Basically said if we lose to LSU we should not be considered for National Championship game under any circumstances. What Turd also said the SEC is really down this year. Guess he is still upset about USC losing..
yep, that's the new media target this week, since USC fell...they're trying to set the seeds in everyone's heads concerning "SOS" now and us...since they don't have any other real hope...anything to try and preempt a 1-2 SEC battle again...
1960 Les Paul
Or, he could be making perfect sense. The sec is down this year. I'm not sure anyone on our schedule except LSU and Michigan will be ranked at the end of the year. Even if Arky gets back to normal once Wilson returns, we didn't play against him (not that it would have mattered). UT, MSU, A&M and Mizzou all have a chance, but the jury is still out on them. When a road game at Mizzou is possibly the 2nd or 3rd hardest game on your schedule, its pretty light.
The SEC isn't down by any stretch. We are always top heavy every year. We have 5 legit teams that basically make up half of the top 10... WTF!
So...the SEC currently has four teams in the Top 10, five in the Top 15 and six in the Top 25...and we are down? Ok.
i think what he was saying that if michigan and arky turn out to be as bad as they are looking like they may be, he may have a point. they were both in the top 10 and they may end up out of the top 25. michigan beating ND would be huge for us and hope that arky turns it around. we just have to get to the sec. championship and beat a georgia team that is ranked.
Try to be somewhat objective about this. He does kinda make a point, it's really no difference than when other fans, back in the early 2000s, would say the same thing about USC, regarding a "1 game" schedule.

Ok, well what conference is a better brand this season and based on doing what?
To be honest I don't want it any other way. The thing to keep in mind is this. Most of the people stating its a winner take all game make it that only if Bama loses. If Bama wins Im sure LSU will get support for a rematch. Why? Because people just don't want CNS and Bama to win again and LSU would be the choice to stop us.
The difference here would be our potentialy matchup in the SEC champ game with a USCe/UF/UGA. That would help out SOS. I wouldn't say the conf is necessarily down...but our schedule prob is. As much as I hate to say it, UT winning last Sat would've helped our cause some. Also, potentially playing an undefeated MSU could help perception some. We likely won't play a top3 team from the East, unless it's in ATL. He has a point...but my question would be....who's better? Just like last year...ok, Bama's not #2? Then tell me who is.
The only way I can see Bama losing to Lsu this year and making it to the championship game is Lsu having two losses and us winning the sec championship game. Even then it may take some help. This year is not last year. The west is not going to have 3 teams in the top 5 at the end of the regular season. And with bama not playing UGa UF or USCe we aren't playing any of the elite from the east. The SOS is not our friend this year. We need to be hoping Michigan gets their stuff right. And UT needs to find a way to beat scar and UGa. That would help. Mizzou winning would help also. Or Bama could just win out and it doesn't matter, Wich is my vote.
It's a little premature on the schedule talk. At this point msu and mich could still have 9 and 10 win seasons. That would have msu top 20 and mich top 10.
However we have the lucky scenario that everyone said georgia had, don't play the best teams from the other division.
The whole argument was started regarding if Alabama and lswho would have a rematch which is also incredibly premature.
Personally I'm glad we don't play the top East teams. I like that lswho has to navigate playing 2 of them before playing us.
I don't mind that we have to beat lswho to play for a national title. Sitting here right now Im not going to say that if we lose in baton rouge we deserve to play for a championship. My opinion may be different if everyone else has 2 losses or if say we lose to lswho but still play for sec championship.
Im pulling for us to win them all and if something else happens then I will adjust my opinions based on everything we know at that time.
I do agree though that our schedule turned out easier than some may have expected however Michigan is not a 3 to 4 loss team cause they play in the big 10 which is a bad league.
hear that rumble in the distance....that's the Notre Dame rumble. It will be ND and Fla State
in the NC game wait and see. They will do EVERYTHING in their power to lock the SEC out
of that game so that they don't have to deal with reality. In 2014 that will all end !
He's just trying to stir the pot as usual. Picking and choosing the stats about various schools that back his argument. I won't go so far to say the conference is too far down, but the fact is our schedule has turned out to be one of the easier ones. The SEC does have teams in the top 10, but we only play one of them. Michigan and Arky were supposed to be significant and both teams have crapped the bed. He was referencing our WKU, FIU...etc games as not helping, but everyone has those games. It's not the schools fault. And regardless of what he thinks, do you really think voters would let an LSU/Bama game happen again this year? Probably not. It's not the point he's trying to make, but he's still kinda right...beat LSU(and the SEC East champ) and we're probably in. Assuming we don't overlook anyone.
It is what it is...Arky, UT, Mizzou and aTm are fair but not great. If FSU/Oklahoma/Oregon go undefeated, and we lose to LSU...it's at most a coin toss. We can't help that the other teams in the conference suck but the SEC from top to bottom isn't the same as it was a few years ago. Bama, LSU, UGA, UScar and maybe UF are top teams. After that, the miss. schools, arky, auburn, uk, really really suck. Are they any worse then the bottom feeder schools at another conference? prolly not, but you have to expect the backlash after last year and how we could always say we were the top conference. I'd put our top 3 aganist anyone but after that, it gets iffy.

Name a conference that's "Up"....don't forget we would get GA or SC in the title game.
BTW, if he wants to level someone with a cupcake schedule...he needs to to swing at FSU. They play basically no one outside of Clemson and UF.
Michigan crapped the bed? Let's let them lose to someone besides the #1 team in the nation before we say that...
This is not a down year for the SEC. We will get a good test after LSU with MSU and if we get to the SECCG we'll play a pretty good East team. If LSU goes to the SECCG I'm not sure they'd give us another chance but I wouldn't rule it out either. The question would always be who would have a better 1 loss record? USC?
But no one, including cowherd, is making the argument that fsu should play for the national title if they lose to Clemson or Florida.
True...I was pointing more to the fact that you hear people pick FSU to be in the NC game because of their "soft schedule". Bama's schedule is down it turns in to how can we keep em out. Last year, we were the 2nd best team in the country for the whole year at the time bowl selections were made. If that's the case again this year, we should be in again.
Based off the way it looks now, our schedule is weak. No way to know how season unfolds at this time, but I would think if we drop any game, were out. Combine the strenghth of schedule with SEC backlash, especially Alabama(last year), and the decision makers are looking for any reason to keep SEC, and especially Bama out. Go undefeated and we can tell all of them, to stick it up the azzzz.
Arky & the barn is down but MSU, UF, UT are all better & Ole Miss is better than last year but at this time I'm not sure how much. The Big 12 is a very weak league where every offense is 1 deminsional & they have have bad defense on every team.
As a fan base boy sometimes we will agree with anybody and not pay attention to the smoke the media will try to create. Out of FSU,Okla,ND and USC, tell me who they play that's a hard or tuff team. Fsu has the easiest schedule in college football followed by usc. If the SEC is down then so are the rest of the conferences in college football. The acc is a joke, the big 12 is another joke and the big ten can never beat us and we have proved it.We beat on of there top 10 teams whenever we play. What point do this guy have when all of the confenses is top heavy. You guys can keep smoking what this guy is selling but im not buying it. Georiga would be great this year in all those other conferences, definently top 2 or 1 in those conferences and so would LSu,SC. arky will win at least win 8 to 9 games. Show me a team in those other comferences that would come to the sec and be a top 2 team, i'll answer that none.

What? We will have played (likely) 5-6 ranked teams before the end of the year, and two of those (likely MSU & LSU) will have been undefeated when we played them.
I don't think I remember him saying the conference was down, just the middle and bottom are bad.
I can't say that I disagree with him about the schedule, but there are a couple of things not factored in - like other top 5 teams losing at least once. If FSU/Oregon/Oklahoma don't lose it'll be hard for a one loss SEC team to play for a title, no matter who the team is.
Let's just take care of business and win out...
