Not defending USC. But they have lost to ranked Stanford. Will possibly play Oregon twice & ND & UCLA later on. That shakes out to favor them. Should they some how not lose again.

Yes, but we only play 1 of those top 10 team at the moment.

Half of these responses say, "if we beat LSU and ...." I believe his premise is that the winner of the LSU game will win the west and if we lose that game, our schedule will not merit what happened last year.
Cowherd conveniently leaves out that LSU(who he repeatedly says is the deepest team in the country), plays North Texas, Idaho, and Towson.
If we're going to schedule bash, let's apply the same standard fairly. Also, I'd be willing to bet that by year's end Michigan will look better than Washington when comparing non-conference wins.
It's not that the conference is down, but we are not playing any of the top 3 teams from the East so saying 2 of them are in the top 10 doesn't matter. Also if we lose to LSU we wouldn't play them in the championship game.
I'm not saying we shouldn't make it in if we lose to LSU because we are clearly the best or at worst second best team. But our strength of schedule is pretty bad. Our only strong win might be the win over Michigan in the case that we lose to lsu.
I wish I could give everyone who listens to his show and similar schlock a magic pill that will convince them that 1) they have no real opinion on anything 2) they are saying whatever they think will drive their ratings so you can get on a message board and call him "Cow Terd."
It honestly isn't even worth bringing up. He wants you to discuss it so people will tune in tomorrow to see what else he has to say. It is a tired, overplayed means of journalism.

This whole subject really isn't that complicated. If we lose to LSU, we will need enough teams above us in the polls...probably two...to lose over the remaining 4 weeks. If enough lose, we'll be in, as long as a team just beneath us isn't one of the teams knocking off the higher ranked teams. If they don't, we won't.
The SEC was way more top heavy last year. The weekend before Lsu played Arkansas the top three teams were out of the west. That was the last weekend in November. That is unbelievable. Plus you had UGa and USCe. There is not a clear number one in the east and I think Mizzou going to screw it up and win a few they shouldn't and muddy it up even more. All of this is conjecture at this point and it will play itself out. But we praise these shock jocks when they say something positive and bash them when they say something negative. Even if it's true. They win either way
I want to add one thing. What we as a fan base need to be more worried about is when they aren't talking about us. That is when it should scare us. IMHO
of the 5 legit teams, we play 1. outside of LSU, we should hope MSU runs the table, they would be another quality opponent.
none of it really matters anyway, we control our destiny. if we win, we are in. after last years outcry i'm not sure why anybody would have thought we could lose again to LSU in the regular season and make the 'ship, assuming LSU wins the SEC due to beating us. IF we lose to LSU, but win the SEC I'd give us a better than 50/50 shot making it, but it would be tough (of course, there is still a lot of football left, so there might not be any contenders undefeated). Nothing outrageous saying that...

LSU vs. South Carolina & UF in back to back weeks. Is looking big for a lot of reasons right now.
Just because you use a 5th grade put down with his name doesn't mean he isn't right.
We will have to wait and see what kind of team Michigan is. I hope they turn out to be good.
Arkansas is a dumpster fire and could win out (other then LSU), or go Bama 2000 and fall apart. So we could get some credit for the win even with Wilson out. But they did lose to ULM.
Then we have Ole Miss. Not going to get us anything as far as strength of schedule. Mizzu should be a decent win, but not going to move the needle unless they really do well this year. UT looks like the UT we have seen the last 4 or so years i.e. won't help our SOS. MSU could be pretty good but again, unless they are undefeated and that is not a team pundits will point to as a huge win. And then there is AU and they are not looking good.
We avoid the quality teams of the East like UGA and USC. Also UF, if they continue to do well.
So if we lose to LSU and don't go to the SECCG, who on our schedule do you point to as a great win? At this point in the season, we can't. We might be able to later in the year, but not right now.
Agreed. It hit me after Arkansas that this is a one game regular season. I'll explain before I get blasted and I probably still will. But, here goes. Every game matters I get that. We can not lose any of them and hope for a national title. However if we lose to Lsu I believe we are done. They could lose two games this year. I do believe they could. I don't think it's probable but there is a chance. But if we back in to the SEC championship game coupled with a perceived backing in to the BCS NCG last year I think voters would penalize Bama heavily. Maybe not the coaches but the Harris poll for sure. If we do beat Lsu and we trip up some where else who knows. I still think sec fatigue will hurt any team from the conference who isn't undefeated
Some people just can't comprehend this.
