What do y'all recommend? I've always used a pc and have never owned an apple. Which is best? It's mainly only used for email and web surfing. Wife will probably put 10 million photos on it. Which is best? I also want to stay under $1000
Can you mods let this ride for a couple hours so I can get a few opinions...thanks

I personally will never own a mac but I can see the appeal for people who don't need their computer to do much. I work on pc's for a living so I know how to operate/fix them. For those who just need email /Web why not get a tablet?
Is a tablet an IPad? Or is it an apple laptop? I was going to get a desktop because my son plays a lot of games online and for my wife's photo shopping
Also the thing about pc's is that often times you get what you pay for. People buy a 400 walmart special and then wonder why it's slow or has problems. You buy a mac laptop and pay well over a grand. If you would buy a pc in the same price range you probably won't have the same troubles. I personally would get a zenbook prime by Asus.
I've heard apples don't get viruses. That's what's wrong with my pc. It has a Trojan I can't get rid of. I have defender pro and malware bytes and I still get a virus....pisses me off..
The biggest appeal I see for Apple laptops is longevity of life. Just know the old adage "you get what you pay for" applies big time to laptops. I bought a cheap laptop last year and this year I am already having to look for a replacement. I'm not extremely hard on one, it never leaves my home but it is used everyday for several hours. My experience is look around for ones that are well built around the hinges, the keyboards don't have the cheap pop off letters, and in my experience while AMD processors are all I use in PC's, I would go with an intel processor in a laptop just because of the heat issues and lack of ventilation in the small spaces. Just my
EDIT: The biggest appeal I see for Apple laptops is longevity of life AND no viruses

I've had norton anti-virus and now One and never had a virus. It's caught several nasty ones and quarantined with no problem.
As far as desktops go, the most inexpensive iMacs are awesome machines and they come preloaded with all kinds of cool software. I'd buy from an online source for best prices. JMHO
there is NOTHING, and i mean NOTHING, better than, more solidly built, and less susceptible to "error" than the Mac...whether the imac, the mac mini, the macbook pro, or the venerable Mac Pro top of the line tower, you CANNOT go wrong with the GREAT mac platform. They are NOT expensive if you REALLY look at it, and the "cheap" mac mini's are HIGHLY touted...

I used to use windows and I bought a macbook pro and I've never looked back.
I was a lifetime pc guy with several gateways and dells under my belt. Two and half years ago I bought a Mac laptop (macbook pro) and it is as fast today as it was the day i bought it. I do not have any virus software and we have never had a virus, spamware, malware, or any other problems.
Needless to say, I will never buy anything but mac unless something drastically changes. You pay more, for one computer, but you will keep it longer than any pc you could buy.
By the way, compatibility concerns are no longer an issue.
