I own a tech support company in Denver. Over the past two years, I've had many of my businesses and home users switch to Mac systems. If you don't need to uses programs that only run on Windows based systems, then Macs are great! I've had a few clients get the $800 Mac Mini and they have worked fine for what they do and will more than be able to handle your tasks. The lowest priced iMac is $1,200 and is a really good system.
Apple's support is great and I've sent many clients to the Apples stores here in Denver and they've always been taken care of. Tough to beat the customer service you get in the Apple Stores. Their phone support is good, but if you ever have a problem, it's best to head on over to the Apple store if you have one nearby.

Chances are overwhemling you don't need a new computer. You're welcome to send it to me and I'll make it better than what you'll buy.
