I'm going to say NO! Because there will be a huge battle between him, ha ha, and Vinnie
I don't think so. HA HA has the step right now. JMO
See Mark Barron circa 2008...that's what we can probably expect this year.
"The Lord just wasn't with us, Coach."
"The Lord," grumbled Bryant, "expects you to block and tackle."
Rick Bragg, August 8, 2012
One thing I know for certain if you come across the middle on us from here on make sure you have your insurance paid up.
No. I see him starting Day 1 on special teams though.
No. I dont ever want to see a freshman starting anywhere if I dont have do, no matter who they are, except maybe kicker this year.
Have we had a DB start day one under CNS? I cant recall that. Not being a smartass either, just worn out and cant remember as well as I once did.
Follow me on twitter, @BSCTIDE. Let's tweet.
Not starting, but the coaches like his ability to play FS, SS, Star, etc... so because of his versatility I think he will see plenty of time as a Fr.
I still remember Barron's first tackle against Clempson on the kickoff,,,I'm sure we will be seeing the same from Collins on ST
Milliner started in 2010 as a FR
OK...clearly SOMEONE disagreed with this statement, so I'll elaborate. Barron came in with a unique skillset for us at the time - big enough to play OLB, but athletic enough to play Safety/Nickel. He actually saw a little bit of time in a number of places on D his freshman year, in addition to ST. I think this will be the same thing we can expect with Collins - not a starter next year, but likely to receive a lot of situational PT.
None of us or any of the coaches have seen him practice against college talent. No way to project by using high school as a measuring stick much less a healthy dose of recruiting hype. Calm down and we will know more when he gets in pads. Obviously the odds are stacked against him but we did lose some talent back there.
i thought he might be a nickel guy

Hell NO!!!...NOT at defensive back
There are other players on the team quite capable. Don't believe everything you read on a message board or start deciding who is going to start/play based upon Star-ratings.
Caveat: If we are kicking off first against Michigan, he will be starting.

IDK depends on how quick he can catch on to our defensive schemes and how hard he works when he gets on campus. He will have all the opportunity to start as a true freshman. I think Vinnie is more of a specialty and role type player, and HaHa fits more at Lester’s position.
Who knows as the year goes on he might could work himself into the playing rotation though.
Like a bat out of hell on that one, still remember thinking that the commentators didn't really make a big deal about it (which pissed me off) and it was a GREAT play to open the 2008 season.
