Column by Brad Edwards, say?
Brad Edwards says the Crimson Tide will still be stacked in 2013, but asks if Bama's run of success is nearing its end.

Oddly timed article with UA playing in NC game, expected to be pre-season No. 1 next year and looking like they could sign a No. 1 overall class again.

Basically stating what goes up must come down and looks at the runs some other programs had before coming back to earth

Nick Saban could probably stay here and win championships as long as he wants lol. I cant imagine why anything would change.
very odd. I know you can't stay on top for ever but as long as Saban is here he will be at or close to it!
A major theme of the article is that you usually can't tell when a dynasty has begun, or ended, until well after the fact, but the key paragraph in the article is this one:
"Even if Alabama doesn't have the horses to win the national championship next year, that doesn't mean the dynasty is over (if it has even begun). A dynasty is about staying power and being in position to make a run at a title most seasons, even if the championships don't come every year."

OK i did not read it but given the numbers of these articles...
The fatigue is too much for some.
They got to have a different angle. Or they try to somehow prophecy about the future in hopes they magically cause it to come true.

Bama-weariness. Looking for something, anything, that can provide a new headline. There is little left to talk about regarding Saban and Alabama. The press is getting antsy for something new.
I think its a theme ESPN is running to try and get through this lull. They have an article making a case for FSU's dynasty under Bowden and they have an article about teams that just missed becoming a dynasty.
I would tend to agree if Brad Edwards hadn't written the article.
Instead I think it's probably more likely that its just a theme ESPN is going with this week, leading up to the big bowl games next week, followed by the lead up to the big game the following week.
With the Playoffs starting in 2 Years our chances actually go up. Also think with next years schedule there is a very good chance of running the table again. Out of Conference is pretty easy and most of the tough games will be in Tuscaloosa. Also we get 2 weeks to prepare for Texas A & M and LSU which will certinally help.
It also basically did a run-down of the other great teams, Nebraska FSU USC and Florida, and citing that with scholarship limitations 6-7 years is about the max a team can sustain success - but they usually had coaching changes that finished their runs.
He also talked how we've done it in a different way than the other teams, and also done it in a conference that we haven't solely dominated.
"Once in awhile you get shown the light in the strangest of places you have to look at it right."
Really wasn't anything negative, actually pretty complimentary of us. It was more a history of the "great" teams over the last 20 years and that based on that we should be reaching the end soon. Not that it was actually over now
If I'm not mistaken Brad is a Bama guy.
Thanks for the link but don't believe I will become an insider just to find out why Mr. Edwards believe's Bama's streak is coming to an end. I have little time to spare for doubt and fear. Life is too short to waste on such.

what a great run that was by fsu...but i get tired of hearin how many top 5 finishes they had..they had 1 championship, right? not that big of a deal and certainly not as impressive as what we are doing now or what nebraska did or possibly usc a few years ago
people also fail to mention that fsu's run came when they played in an acc that was actually even weaker then than it is now (that's hard to imagine, but it's true). they were tested twice a year - by miami and florida. they lost most of the games to the first and about half of the games to the second.
I disagree with his definition of dynasty.
Torre's Yankees = Dynasty
Cox's Braves = Not a dynasty
That's my personal opinion I don't think the Buffalo Bills were a dynasty in the 90s either.
Winning championships is what makes dynasties to me.
All true, though i'd add that UVa was decent program during that era, even handing FSU their first ACC loss ( i was at that game). No powerhouse by any means, but a lot if NFL talent came thru Charlottesville during Grohs tenure
