For those of us with a login to ESPN3 who live in Alabama or Florida, as you probably know already, the game will be blacked out and thus unavailble on ESPN3.
There is a very easy workaround for this.
Goto http://www.hotspotshield.com/ and download the FREE version. Once installed, close your browser and activate hotspotshield. This will run your IP address through a proxy server typicall in NY or CA. Thus when you log in to ESPN3, their servers see you as a user in one of those states and thus the game will not be blacked out.
Typically after I activate hotspotshield, I go to http://whatismyipaddress.com/ to check to see which proxy location I am running though. If it tells you it is a state other than AL or FL, you are good to proceed to ESPN3 and enjoy. If by chance it is AL, FL or somewhere outside of the US, deactivate hotspot shield, re-enable it and check your location again at http://whatismyipaddress.com/.
I am in Mobile, AL and as you can see from the attached picture, once activated, it shows me as being located in San Gabriel, CA (ie. not blacked out).
About as easy as it gets, assuming you already have access to ESPN3 content.
Thanks, brother! +1
Never works for me. It shows an error followed by a # when I go to ESPN3 content.
I'm in NY State but do not have ESPN3 access. Any way for me to get it?
I would almost guarantee that http://thefirstrow.eu will have the game. If not, I am sure there will be someone with a link to a stream of the PPV game here on the board Saturday
Thanks, but not computered gurued to do all that, but appreciate it though.
What about justin.tv? i used to watch a lot of MMA PPV shows there a while back.
I've done all that, my IP address is showing Hawaii, but the Bama game is still not showing up as being available on espn3. Will it show up maybe tomorrow?
Go to the game...
Wonderful!! Thanks a lot.
Does anyone know if it will be blacked out on espn 3 if you are using an Xbox 360? If it is, is there a way to get around it?
Thanks OP! I hope it works tomorrow...
I hate missing a live game but it will be available as soon as the game is over on ESPN3 if this doesn't work... I'll have to watch the game on my TV and stream the beat down in boogerville on my tablet...
I'll confirm this when I get back from class, but I'm guessing OP is either using IE (shame on you) or has his browser set to use the system connection settings. The app (never used it but have used similar ones) probably changes the system internet settings, which are not used by default in browsers outside of IE (maybe Safari?). Firefox has an option to use those settings. Not sure about Chrome.
I'll come back in an hour and a half or so and let you know what I find. I'll see about a solution for Mac users too.
Hotspotshield is available for mac. I a am using IE. I have a Mac as well and it worked fine on that too.

Excited to see if this works. Good find!
One of the best fantasy football sites...
Yep, I posted about Hotspot Shield in the TV info thread yesterday (just no instructions) and that it worked for me last year. I have a Mac as well and it worked perfectly last year. Going to the game this year though so no need to get around the blackout.
Hey, I have a mac as well and have used hotspot shield for many other things but for some reason it wont work for espn3. Every time I go to espn3 with hotspot shield and select a show it brings up a popup window that wants me to identify my internet service provider. When I select charter it won't let me go any further. Is there a way around this? Thanks.
bump for later, bc I have a Iphone 5 on the way and feeling tech savvy today.
What happens to everybody else has nothing to do with us, understand?”
