Never really saw him as an NFL caliber guy. Downvote away. Honestly, even though he doesn't have the raw athletic ability that JPW does, I think McElroy will manage to stay in the league longer and will make a better backup.
Welll, he made the roster for 3 years, which I never believed he would do. Good for him. He certainly deserves our appreciation and support.
I think JPW was only 3-4 games from being vested in the NFL Pension Plan. He may have already made it, but I don't think so.
I think part of it has to do with an increase in the salary he is to receive since he has been in the league for more than three seasons. They can keep a rookie for much cheaper and the third string QB is unlikely to play so they don't want to pay him more. I remember hearing this when DJ Shockley was the Falcons 3rd stringer and they picked JPW up. JPW was the cheaper option.
Not that it really mattered but the UGA fans, who make up a considerable portion of the Falcons' fanbase, have pulled against JPW and called for his exit ever since he was signed three years ago. They really never could come to grips with the fact that JPW supplanted a Dawg, DJ Shockley, as the #3 QB in Atlanta. I expect the trouncing in the Black Out Game during JPW's senior season had a lot to do with that too.
i agree...hope he gets his pension though...he was so close...hopefully he can land somewhere else as a 3rd stringer for the league minimum which is still a great paycheck
For all intensive porpoises, the larger the grade of saw, the more butter you need to use (it helps with chafing).
