Second time in a row that the 2 seed in their bracket has lost to the 15 seed. Last year they played the 15 seed to advance to the sweet 16.
Sometimes it's more luck than anything if the high seeds get knocked out opening an easier path. Our single elite 8 team had to earn its way.
I got Florida in the finals in my bracket...I still got a chance even if it's a longshot
I have Florida in the finals as well.
Uf winning would be the best thing for bama and the rest of the sec. Lots of natty's in the past several years for sec bball. It would help position all of the sec bubble teams more favorably with the selection committee.
Georgetown wasn't getting past San Diego St or Oklahoma. That said, Florida is going to have a hell of a time beating Minnesota. I have a Minnesota - San Diego St matchup in my Sweet 16.
I got em to win it all in one bracket. The other I have Michigan St.
“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present.”
I'm pulling for Florida. To me it would be great to see the sec win two in a row as much as the national sports writers put the league down. I mean the 7th best conference in the nation? I may be a homer but I think the sec is better than that.
The SEC and ACC have dominated national championships since 1990:
ACC: 8 (UNC, Duke, MD)
SEC: 6 (UK, UF, Arky)
Big East: 4 (UConn, Cuse)
PAC 10: 2 (UCLA, Zona)
Big 10: 1 (Mich St)
Big 12: 1 (Kansas)
Mountain West: 1 (UNLV)
This didn't help the SEC or ACC one bit this year. Both got poor seedings and no bubble teams in. Duke and Miami were #1 and 4 RPI and got 2 seeds. UNC and NCSU were #16 and 20 RPI and got 8 seeds. Bama and MD could wax a few teams that got in with at-larges and weak resumes (like MTSU - sorry Lucky).
This year was a joke anyway. Miami not getting a one seed is beyond stupid. They won the acc reg and conf tournament and they end up a 2. When was the last time that happened. Oregon at a twelve makes no sense either. They were second and won the tournament. Ole miss was 26-8 and won the sec tourn. Yes they played a cup cake ooc but they proved themselves in the sec. Georgetown being a two was proven ridiculous. Honestly though, their screw ups have made the NIT a very good tournament this year. I for one am sick of the b1g and big east love though. I have not been impressed with either league this year.
You haven't been impressed with big east or b1g? Wow bro, 17 teams from those leagues made it in. Like it or not they've the most impressive two conferences in college bball this year, despite the fact it seems like a down year n the sport. Can't deny what they put on the court, great brand of ball IYAM. Just because Georgetown went down early doesn't mean others will. I bet it's an elite8 handful from these 2 conferences.
