Moussa Gueye is proof that just because you are really tall doesn't mean you are a basketball player.
We need MUSCLE in the paint..not these 6'8" 185-200 pound noodles that get crapped on by Patrick Young and every other big guy we go against.
We need a couple Richard Hendrix's...big, 6'9" 250+lb animals.
Grant is bringing in a world champion squash player from Norwsy...He is 7..4...275 pounds of pure muscle....however, he has yet to play competitive basketball...
Also coming from Greenland is a lanky 6,,9,,,225 pound soccer player who has played Rec league basketball....He was rumored to have held Moussa Geye to only 17 points during a summer pickup game...
Thickness/muscle ain't moose's problem. Coordination and total lack of basketball iq and skill, is.
Moose CNS bang with anyone in the league, but he has zero balance and ability to use that bulk without fouling.
Now, if only we could sign, say, a 6-9/225 C and a 6-7/205 PF, especially if both were 4*s. That would be awesome.

someone said in a thread once that Grant signed Gueye without ever seeing him play. I thought even Grant wasn't that incompatent, but after watching 2 years of Gueye's play and lack of any basketball skills, I think that poster was telling the truth.
And yet 6 teams in this league also signed as many posts as we did, and everyone of them was rated higher than ours.
I think it was the opposite. Grant and staff went out there, but Moose never visited here before committing
It's bad either way. How this staff could have ever evaluated that gueye had any bball skill set at all is beyond me.
To be fair to Grant, he isn't the first coach to become enamored with size over skill. Remember when Tubby Smith kept signing all those 7 footers at UK who were projects because you can't coach size. I will take 5 Chris Hines anyday to Gueyye and Engstrom. They might be only 6'7" but they will rebound and bust their hump.
Plus Bobby Knight said Gueye could become an NBA player if he worked hard enough. Moussa's injury last year thwarted his development.
FWIW Gottfried never offered anybody without consulting his (AAU) guy in Birmingham first. Names escapes me now but he went by a nickname anyway. Older AA gentleman... Oh well.
Hey guys, I heard LeBron wants to put his NBA career on hold to play at Alabama. See? I can say stupid things too.
This post is so wrong it's almost comical. There are three other teams that have a center signed (Arkansas, Auburn, LSU) and exactly one of them is rated higher than ours. One isn't even rated. Even with commitments, you're talking about five schools (Arkansas, Auburn, Kentucky, LSU, Missouri) with six centers, and a whopping two of them are rated higher than Taylor. Neither of LSU's is even rated, nor is Missouri's by 247. By the way, one of the better ones is going to Kentucky and the other is going to play for Mike Anderson.

So, let me get this straight:
You claim that six teams in the SEC signed as many "posts" - a word I've only ever used to describe centers - as us and that every single one is more highly rated than ours. You then provide, as evidence, a list of six SEC teams and some - not all - of the big men - a more generic term - they have signed or committed. In this list, you include teams with only one big man, despite clearly stating that they signed as many as us, and you list multiple players that not only are not more highly rated than ours but in some cases aren't even rated at all. You also exclude certain players and even a seventh team that don't support your outlandish claim.
Your own evidence proves you wrong. It's time you admit it.
If we had a #2 or 3 who could shoot from the outside and a #4 who could bang it would make Moussa a lot more effective.
