does anyone have that video clip? Just wondering if someone can upload it on youtube if they have it.
Can't believe we lost to UCLA back then. I was at some 'hole in the ground' in southern Utah and had no access to a TV. Called my dad and asked who won and was disappointed. Think it was the game in 2000 that was in LA. Was tough for a Bama fan back then, especially coming off a great 1999 season that had everyone excited about things to come.

Dubose after the game..LOL
"The national championship is still in the picture for us,"
DuBose said. "The next game we'll run the same offense and
defense and we'll do it better."
what a horrible start to the year...i was so excited when he ran that back but there wasnt much left that year to get excited about
dubose was such an immense fail

What a bad day. I was sitting in the end one that Freddie ran the punt into. Remember looking at my buddie and saying it was going to be a fun year. Wasn't to long until the overrated chants started from the UCLA fans. Had a little kid tell me outside the stadium that is was a long walk back to the farm. Couldn't even offer a response.
Only highlight of that season! Was also in the endzone he ran it into. Rest of the season is a blur. My how far we have come since then and the Shula days!
High expectations.... that play happens... everything felt so right. Then went so wrong. My new girlfriend that had moved to the area over the summer had heard nothing from me except how we were back and were going to win it all. Problem is, she moved from Oklahoma, was an OU fan, and they won it all that year. She is now my wife and has been completely converted though. Even decided that it would be better if A&M beat OU in the bowl game because it made us look bad if they didn't. The road trip to Norman a couple of years later was a long one with her, stupid backwards touchdown pass by TWatts. But I digress....

99 passed with so much momentum and hope for the future. We basically had everyone on offense back except for 37 & 60. After that punt return I totally had this false sense of euphoria. By the time the game ended the "over-rated!" chant was stabbing me right in the gut. The year only got worse from there. I never want to hear the phrase "pancake posse" again.
True, but in 2000 there was still a huge in house coaching and QB controversies, PLUS 60 and 37 were 1st round draft picks.
Now I know that the in house coaching problems didnt surface until mid season but we had heard plenty of rumblings in the Spring if I do recall. Man! What a bad memory I just had with all that drama. Glad we arent seeing those days anymore. AU sure is, and its beautiful!
It was a tremendous challenge and tremendous opportunity

I remember going absolute bonkers with my friends when he ran that back. We all thought the same thing...."this is going to be the year."
I can remember getting calls from friends after that play talking about how bad Alabama was going to beat UCLA, but it was pretty much down hill after that play. Tough game.
