You might as well go ahead and get prepared for all of the "Saban is interested in Texas" rumors to start. There's already an undercurrent among Texas insiders that Saban would be interested and Texas would pay the money.
Here's a couple thoughts to keep in mind as you begin to read the various reports/articles if/when Baylor beats Texas this upcoming weekend.
#1. Saban isn't going anywhere. He finally has Alabama where he wants it and he will likely retire in Tuscaloosa. According to sources very, very close to him, he has no interest in leaving Alabama at this point in his career.
#2. For all the talk that Saban could be lured away by UT's oil money, consider 3 things. (1) Alabama will pay him, (2) Alabama has the money to pay him, and (3) anyone that knows Saban, know's that he is not motivated by money. He is motivated by Legacy, so this would never get to a bidding contest.
The bottom line is that Saban is the hottest name in college coaching and Texas is considered "the job" by many, so it is natural that Saban's name would be associated with the job. But before all of the "rumors" and "inside sources" heat up, it's not going to happen -- at least at this point in his career.

The team that should be worried is Floriday. Would Will Muschamp leave Florida for Texas?
Any chance they might make another play for Muschamp? Or did he burn that bridge by not being Brown's lackey until he left?

Will be very interested to see who they go after. I could see an NFL type guy being the hire
I agree with you Lucky on all points. I will add, at Coaches age, with the friends and roots he and his wife have put down in Tuscaloosa I see him retiring at Alabama. Mrs.Terry IMO is a major factor here, she is a great person and I think she is entirely happy at Alabama. Also, as you pointed out it is not about money with Coach Saban.
I agree Lucky, but what amazes me is the folks that think that they can lure him away
"Character" is doing the right thing when nobody is looking.
Bridges were burned from what I understand.
Agree, I could see Muschamp going to Texas in a heartbeat.
Pretty sure the Saban train will quickly get no steam and they (media, rumor-mill) will move on to other big fish. UT will have the chance to hire a big name or they will be smart and hire a guy ready to become a big name.

So Saban would leave after winning 2 rings in 3 years @ bama. If u have any brains no way u believe this. Nothing wrong with hoping I guess.
Spot on Lucky. If he was 50 and couldn't win consistently here, I'd think UT would be in play. But obviously, he's winning consistently and is at the age its time to settle down in one spot.
I would imagine they'll make a strong play for Gruden. He could be wildly successful there.
Would TX take a chance on Kirby ??
