NC State chokes again gave up an 8 pt lead with two mins left.....
If you want to walk the heavenly streets of gold, you gotta know the password, "Roll, tide, roll!"
Warms my heart.
5-4 league record. No shock there..
Gottfried has always had the same problems
1)Defensive intensity. Without TR Dunn, Gottfried's teams gave up 75 every night.
2)Offensive ingenuity. Now his offense is much better than Grant's, but its ancient and stale. It relies on a big with good passing (high low game) and athletes to bail out poor possessions (pretty much Grant's entire offense today).
3)Road games. When we won the SEC in 2002, we were 4-4 on the road including getting destroyed by 25+ by Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Vandy.
4)Expectations. Guy cant win when people expect wins. Only 1 team exceeded high expectations (2002) and only 1 team really met expectations that were high (2004-05 regular season, failed miserably in the NCAAs as Bruce Pearl showed Gottfried how to coach).
5)Miserable Rotation, particularly on the road. He never went further than 7 deep at Bama, even on our really talented teams.
With ten seconds on the clock there was no pressure on the guy throwing the ball in, Miami simply got the pass drove to the basket and got a tip-in
And he took Freshmen All Americans and coached them to 3rd team SEC by the time they were Juniors. Name one player who improved 2 years in a row under him.
