Andy Staples with a nice article on Saban. I enjoyed this one.
This story appears in the Aug. 20, 2012 issue of Sports Illustrated. Buy the digital version of the magazine here.
INCREDIBLE article...really one of the best I've ever read. Perfectly outlines "the process"...ty for posting!

That was a great article! Thanks for posting that. I've forwarded that on to many Bama fans, and a few gators - just to rub it in.
I love the last couple of sections on the article that talk about the grading scale. I admit I get caught up in the star rankings from time to time, but even when we get the 3 stars, I know that Saban and Co. are not wasting a scholarship on kids who don't have ideal measurables.... The immeasurables of a kid (i.e. character) make up for what they lack in size and speed... Javy, Nick Gentry, Corey Reamer, William Vlachos, Rashad Johnson etc. The kids that Saban and the coaches are recruiting have the character and intelligence to excel on the field when common sense and ratings tell us not to expect as much. I for one will rest easy as long as we have Saban and staff in charge!
And yes, I realize Saban didnt recruit all of these guys, they are just examples of guys who prove my point.
This article pretty much epitomizes why losing recruits like Foster and Nkemdiche really do not matter in the grand scheme of things with Saban at the helm. With Saban, not only will we always recruit at an elite level, but also all of our players will be coached up during their 3 to 5 years in the program. This will ALWAYS be the case with Saban. While I truly appreciate Kirby Smart and all of the other assistants that help make this program operate, Saban will remain the common thread that allows Bama to be the preeminent program in the country.
Thanks for sharing that article. Pretty good stuff to read.
Good read and thanks.

"A month later he won his second national title and showed that a scheme is no match for the Process."

Great article! +1
Thanks for posting!
Bunch of Barners are probably canceling their SI subscriptions right now...
Great piece by Andy Staples, thanks op.
Good read. It's only a matter of time before the entire nation is "Processed".
"As the game slipped away, Moawad tried to get linebacker Dont'a Hightower to rally the defense, but Hightower didn't feel he was the right man for the job. The following off-season Moawad and Hightower revisited the situation, and Hightower realized he should have done more."
I assume the writer is talking about Hightower doing more in a leadership role during our 2010 game against AU. Anyone remember Hightower's play during that game?
Awesome article! SABANIZATION!!!
SI ON CNS ...THX
