that in the jumbo package Jesse is so far ahead of the ball carrier that his blocking is not as effective, if not seeing things right sorry im not an expert
Agree 100%, does very little...I posted that I have rarley seen a good hit. Id like to see a Copeland type be the lead blocker, he brings some pain
He does have the Cody effect though...some guys seem to back out of the way.
True. If I remember correctly, I never really remember Cody making any straight on big hits on any of his blocking attempts. I want them to give Jesse the ball!
Would LOVE! to see Jesse get the ball
Vince Lombardi was asked how it felt to have the best football team in the world. He replied, I don't know. We haven't played Alabama yet.
We had one, his name was jalston fowler, anybody that courtney upshaw admits to not liking to hit in practice is a stud in my book, however having said that, i would love to see a little trick pass to Jesse, maybe like a bootleg or a hb toss where he does a curl and the rb tosses it to him or something, would be comparable to the awesome-Ness of andre smiths td against ok st in the 07 bowl game!!
Watched Saturday's replay. I'm pretty sure I saw him push a defender 5-7 yards deep in the endzone on one of our rushing TDs.
What I've noticed is that we score almost every time he's in the game. Something must be working right.
That's right. He takes out whoever is in front of him. No doubt about that. His guy never gets in on the tackle.
I can't wait to do that on Manti Te'o on the 1 yard line.
Much like Cody, it's effective as much of a decoy as an actual blocker. He line his guy up, but that's partly b/c his guy typically tries to go around him, which leads to them being out of position and leaving a gap open. Or the defense assumes we are running behind him and Lacy walks to the corner as he did on Saturday.
Yup, Fowler biggest loss of the season
I think that was Frost, POS was trying to talk smack after a descent hit when they were down 30+
This^^^^ . I think the linebackers focus on where Jesse is going. So much that it makes it easier for the running backs to cut away from where Jesse is leading. If we ran a sweep to the opposite side of where he was blocking, Yeldon could probably hop on one leg and score.
